Lady Gaga fans are left unimpressed as she performs Mon Truc en Plumes during Olympics 2024 Opening Ceremony as they claim she sang in ‘French adjacent’

Lady Gaga fans were not impressed with her performance at the 2024 Olympic Games opening ceremony on Friday, claiming she sang in “French adjacent.”

The 38-year-old Bad Romance star sparkled in a black leotard and white feathers as she took to the international stage with her rendition of Mon Truc en Plumes.

But despite looking fantastic for her international appearance, viewers may have criticisms of the American star’s performance.

Fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, commented that her song must have been “her worst ever” and criticized her for her French vocals.

One wrote: ‘Very famous FRENCH artist… uh… #LadyGaga. With a… Uhm… I don’t know what that performance was but it must have been her worst ever. #Olympics #Paris2024’

‘Lady Gaga isn’t even f*****g French. This is like singing Bad Bunny while the Olympics were in Colombia’

‘The opening ceremony of the UK in 2012 was much praised but I liked what they did in the closing ceremony, the UK has so many hugely influential pop stars, just line them up. France should use Lady Gaga and pretend she speaks French.’

“Okay, but does Lady Gaga sing in French or French-adjacent?”

Lady Gaga opened the festival with a performance for 320,000 enthusiastic spectators along the banks of the Seine.

The choreographed parade kicked off at 6.30pm UK time, with the American superstar wowing the crowd with a stunning Folie Bergiere-style performance.

She sang entirely in French and was surrounded by a plume of pink feathers.

The opening ceremony began with a short film featuring French football legend Zinedine Zidan carrying the Olympic torch, before passing it on to local children who appeared in real life on the banks of the river.

Tonight, crowds poured from the windows of houses along the Seine as athletes prepared from the bridge for a huge flotilla of 85 boats carrying 6,800 athletes.

Spectators from the banks of the famous river – and from their armchairs around the world – were then able to enjoy a typically Parisian performance of the Cancan dance, with dancers dressed in pink lighting up the grey sky.

As the dance medley continues below on the riverbank, the Olympic torch is carried over the beautiful rooftops of the city by a freerunning athlete.

Meanwhile, more than 600,000 people attend the opening ceremony at the stadium, including a host of celebrities, including pop star Arianna Grande, tennis star Serena Williams and Hollywood king Stephen Spielberg.

Olympic organisers are hoping the rest of tonight’s ceremony will go smoothly after a “massive arson attack” earlier today caused chaos on the French rail network, leaving spectators and athletes stranded.

The ‘coordinated acts of malice’ on high-speed rail links across the Channel have caused chaos for sports fans, with serpentine queues forming outside St Pancras today as Eurostar trains were delayed or cancelled.

Eurostar has urged passengers to cancel their journeys today if they can. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer issued the same advice. He was sitting in one of the best seats in the stadium after flying to France instead of the planned route from St Pancras.

The Eurostar delays will last until Monday. One in four trains will be cancelled today and over the weekend. The city is expected to be flooded tonight.

But French authorities hope all will be forgotten when Lady Gaga returns to the stage to perform with Celine Dion during the four-hour ceremony, which is expected to be watched by more than a billion people.
