Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis is potentially a week away from returning after being sidelined for more than a month with a foot injury as the Lakers prepare for a tough five-game road trip.

Los Angeles Lakers star power forward Anthony Davis is potentially a week away from returning from injury, according to news reports. ESPN.

The eight-time All-Star has been out of action since Dec. 16, when he injured his big toe.

“Anthony Davis is, as we speak right now, potentially a week away from returning,” said ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. He will continue the acceleration process and do a couple full-court practices. And everything will depend on how his body responds the next day.

Lakers head coach Darvin Ham said Davis is “virtually pain free” after intense workouts.

“But if all goes well, he’ll be playing for the Lakers again next week at Crypto.com Arena and will be with them for the entire road trip.”

According to Lakers coach Darwin Ham, Davis has been “virtually pain free” and has progressed very, very, very well after individual workouts lasting between 45 minutes and an hour.

The Lakers are set to begin a five-game road trip against primarily Eastern Conference teams in playoff contention on January 28 and Davis’ return would provide a big boost to the lineup.

Davis has appeared at Lakers games in street clothes while sitting next to his teammates.

LA will face the Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, Indiana Pacers and New Orleans Pelicans.

In addition to all five teams being in contention for the playoffs, the Celtics also have the best record in the NBA as of now, going 34-12.

The Lakers have struggled to perform with or without Davis, as they’ve gone 20-25 to this point in the season.

Before he got hurt, Davis averaged 27.4 points, 12.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.1 blocks and 1.3 steals while shooting 59.4 percent from the field and 29.0 percent from 3-point range in 25 games.

He is no stranger to missing extended periods of time due to injury after appearing in 40 games in 2021-22 and 36 games in 2020-21.

Davis was playing at an incredibly high level before missing time with his foot injury.
