Chaos has ensued in Los Angeles County as 9.6 million residents were wrongly told to evacuate raging wildfires.
According to Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn, the entire population was wrongly told to leave the area around 4pm local time on Thursday.
Hahn turned to
“I have learned that the evacuation warning that many of us just received on our phones was incorrectly issued across the country due to a technical error. A correction will be issued shortly,” Hahn wrote.
Many were outraged by the disastrous mistake and quickly fired back at Hahn in the comments.
“Your failures will be remembered in the history books. Resign. This will kill people,” one person wrote.
“Thank you for freaking out all of Los Angeles County. I didn’t need this because we and our family are already tense,” said another.
Another user commented: ‘You incompetent buffoons.’
Many were outraged by the disastrous mistake and quickly fired back at Hahn in the comments as the wildfires continued to burn.
The emergency alert was sent to LA residents stating: “NEW: This is an emergency message from the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
‘An EVACUATION WARNING has been issued in your area. Stay alert to any threats and be prepared for evacuation. Gather loved ones, pets and supplies.
“Continue to monitor local weather, news and the alertla.org web page for more information,” it said.
About 22 minutes later, a second message came through residents: ‘Ignore the latest evacuation warning. It was for Kenneth Fire Only. AlertLA.org for more information.”
Shortly after the first notification was sent, another was sent to ‘ignore’ the first one as it was intended for those affected by the Kenneth fire in Woodland Hills
