The LA Clippers unveiled their new uniforms and logo ahead of their move to the $2 billion Intuit Dome next season.

On Monday, the team shared its new logo and showed off the new apparel worn by stars Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and James Harden.

The team was allowed to unveil their new brand name mid-season due to the progress of their new factory in Inglewood, California. Construction has progressed so far that the logo will appear in the building before next season.

The new decal features a compass rose forming a letter C with an approaching Clipper ship with points in all four directions. As for the uniforms, the Clips decided to tweak some classics and bring back iconic looks from yesteryear.

The white uniforms feature an updated version of the Clippers script in blue, which first debuted in the late 1980s. The blue jerseys have the Clippers sprint in red across the chest. Meanwhile, the Red Shirts have Los Angeles in blue script with maritime flags on the sides.

The Clippers have revealed they will be bringing back the red jerseys for the first time since 2016-17

The rebranding process was a “quiet listening tour,” according to Gillian Zucker, Clipper’s president of operations. She said they took input from thousands of fans into account before beginning their new era at Intuit Dome.

“We just gathered a lot of information, which is, ‘Should we?’ Should we change the name? Should we change the colors? Should we change the logo? And if so, what do people want to see? Why would they want us to change it, what would they want to stand for? How would they like us to be represented?’ Zucker said The Athletics.

“And we’ve taken all that information and all that research and we’ve worked with a number of experts to deliver what we think is the answer to that question.”

Zucker said the red uniforms were in high demand among the Clippers’ fan base. The Clippers haven’t tried to recreate or revive the red jersey since defeating Lob City in 2016-17. George also teased the return of the red jerseys on Podcast P last month.

“I think fans are going to be really excited to have the red back,” Zucker told The Athletic. “That was something we had a resounding chorus of: ‘bring back the red.’ So I think this is something that fans will really embrace.”

The Clippers currently sit fourth in the competitive Western Conference with a 37-19 record

Founded as the Buffalo Braves in 1970, the team was renamed the Clippers when they moved to San Diego eight years later. In 1984 the team left again, this time to Los Angeles. In 1999, they would join the Lakers and Kings (NHL) at the Crypto.com Arena, formerly Staples Center.

The Clippers’ most successful season came in 2021 when they appeared in the Western Conference Finals before losing to the Phoenix Suns.

Still looking for their first title, the team has had great success this season with the acquisition of Harden from Philadelphia. The Clips are currently fourth in the Western Conference with a 37-19 record.

As the team’s future began to take shape, they also made sure to keep their stars on board for the foreseeable future. In January, Leonard signed a three-year extension, keeping him with the team until 2027.

Leonard talked about how he hopes his extension will encourage George, who joined the Clippers in 2019, to stay with Clipper even though his contract expires after this season.
