Kyrie Irving seems to want a reunion with his former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate, LeBron James.

But instead of trying to fight her way out of Dallas to join LeBron with the Lakers, Kyrie asks James to join him with the Mavericks, according to Shams Charania.

All of this comes as speculation about James’ immediate future – including whether or not he will retire – continues to swirl.

Six years after Irving demanded a trade from Cleveland to step out of LeBron’s shadow after their 2016 NBA title win, it seems Irving is willing to step back into the shadows. Irving has not been able to reach the NBA Finals since he demanded his exit – his presence in Boston and Brooklyn failed to produce results.

Meanwhile, James would not only reach the Finals again with Cleveland in 2018, he would also win the NBA title with the Lakers in 2020.

A move from Los Angeles – where James’ family has lived for years – is unlikely

The odds of James leaving Los Angeles for Dallas seem slim, especially considering that LeBron’s family has lived in the City of Angels since 2015.

LeBron’s son Bryce still attends high school in the area and his oldest son Bronny just committed to play at USC.

That said, James would fit in well on a Mavericks team with the likes of Irving and Luka Doncic.

The Lakers were a surprise team in this NBA Playoffs, winning the Play-In Tournament and reaching the Western Conference Finals before being swept by Denver.

Dallas, on the other hand, went all in on a playoff push by getting Irving – only to implode along the stretch and miss the postseason entirely.
