Kylie Minogue has revealed her unlikely friendship with Coldplay’s Chris Martin.
The Australian pop legend, 55, described himself as a huge Coldplay fan and told how they have become close friends over the decades in the spotlight.
Singer Chris, 47, recently gushed about Kylie in a sweet essay written for TIME after she was named to the TIME100 list of the most influential people of 2024.
Responding to his tribute, Kylie said there is ‘mutual respect’ and ‘love’ between them as she gave insight into their long-lasting friendship.
“I was a Coldplay fan from, I mean Millennium. Maybe I wore out the CD,” Kylie said We weekly during the TIME 100 gala. ‘There is mutual respect and admiration, friendship and love.’

She added: “I can’t speak for him, but I will say for me the fact that we have been in a relationship with so many people for decades, for some it may be a fleeting relationship, others may have just come [to know] me [in] the last year, but it’s all about connection and energy.’
Chris recently shared his admiration for Kylie to Time Magazine as he celebrated her incredible achievement by being named one of the most influential people of 2024.
He told how the Neighbors actress became a pop star and was one of the first people he ever met on TV, saying he had been a fan of hers for almost 15 years before that.
‘Kylie Minogue was one of the first people I ever met through TV. “She was a pop star and I had seen her on Neighbors every day for 10 years,” he said.
“So when she came to an early Coldplay show, I had been her fan for almost fifteen years.”

‘Kylie creates a space where everyone can safely be themselves. When I look at her, I feel hope. She is proof that there are people who don’t judge,” he said.
Kylie and Chris have appeared on stage together a number of times over the years, including at the Glastonbury festival in 2019.
Kylie brought him out as part of her special guest line-up and the pair sang a duet of her smash hit Can’t Get You Out of My Head.
Coldplay also brought Kylie to their 2022 New Jersey concert, where they performed another rendition of her hugely popular song.

“We grew up idolizing some great pop stars,” Chris gushed onstage at the time as he introduced Kylie to his fans.
“The day this person came to watch our show in the year 2000, we thought someone from Mars had landed because as far as we could tell, she had actually just come off the television.”
“We grew up loving her,” he added. “And then she got better and better, and she’s still getting better and better.”
