Pop icon Kylie Minogue to make return to the BRIT Awards stage at 2024 ceremony after last performing at the glitzy bash 16 years ago
Kylie Minogue will reportedly take to the stage for the first time in 16 years at the upcoming BRIT Awards.
The Australian pop icon, 55, last performed her hit Wow at the awards ceremony in 2008.
Singer Kylie and her team are said to be making plans on how she can make a big impact with her performance at London’s O2 Arena in March.
A source said The sun: ‘Kylie fans should have their gold hot pants ready for the Brits.
βShe’s ready for a big performance on the show. It would be a huge coup for the organizers to get Kylie back on stage where she belongs, and they know her fans will love it.

‘It’s likely that Kylie would perform a mix of some of her biggest hits, including Padam Padam, which was huge last year.
‘The offer has been received and negotiations are currently taking place. Watch this space.’
The shortlist of nominations will be announced very soon.
It comes after no female singers were named on the shortlist of 2023 nominees in the Best Artist category.
The BRIT Awards 2024 will see some big changes to their categories in response to the backlash of creating gender-neutral gongs in 2022.
This year, the ceremony’s organizers came under scrutiny after female musicians β including Charlie XCX and Florence And The Machine β were rejected from Artist Of The Year, which Harry Styles ultimately won.
After the furor, an extensive review took place and the category was expanded from five nominations to 10. This also applies to International Artist Of The Year.
Other changes for the award show, which takes place on Saturday, March 2, include a new standalone category for R&B. It used to be Pop/R&B.

A source said The sun: The British’s decision to create genderless categories was a huge one and they have now retooled it to try and make it more inclusive.
βThe move to become genderless was meant to be progressive, and by making this change they hope it reflects this.β

Music industry leaders faced a backlash when they dropped the two categories in an effort to be inclusive and relevant after non-binary musicians, including Sam Smith, who identifies as neither male nor female, said they felt left out .
The first gender-neutral award was presented to Adele in 2022, but in her acceptance speech she emphatically told the audience: ‘I love being a woman.’
It is understood she has also expressed her dismay after it emerged this year’s shortlist only included men.
When former One Direction star Harry, 29, collected the Artist Of The Year award, he dedicated it to several female artists who were not nominated.
He said, βI am aware of my privilege here tonight, so this award goes to Reyna, Florence (Welch), Mabel and Becky (Hill).β
The changes came after singer Sam Smith β who identifies as non-binary β pressured organizers earlier this year to scrap the male and female categories.

The three-time winner previously said: ‘For me, music has always been about unity, not division.

British chairman Tom March announced the dumping of the long-standing category names in 2022.
He said: ‘It is important that Britain continues to develop and strive to be as inclusive as possible.
βThis feels completely the right time to celebrate the achievements of artists for the music they make and the work they do, regardless of gender.β

Following the decision to abolish the men’s and women’s categories, Brian May launched a scathing attack on the organisers.
The 76-year-old musician said it was made “without much thought” and believes that if Queen were a new band popping up on the charts today, they wouldn’t be considered diverse enough.
Brian, who has won four BRITs with the group, slams organizers for making decisions ‘out of fear’ and believes the gender-neutral gongs will have long-term consequences.
The star also admitted that ‘woke culture’ would have led Queen to question whether iconic frontman Freddie Mercury was the ‘right color or gender’ if the rock band were formed today.
In an interview with The sunBrian said: βI feel very uncomfortable with some of the decisions being made, often out of fear because people are so afraid of being called out. It’s a terrible atmosphere.
‘I’m so sick of people trying to change things without thinking about the long-term consequences. Some of these things are improvements and some are not. Some of them rob people.β
Brian went on to say that he believes Queen is not considered diverse enough to make it in the industry today, regardless of their talent as a group.

Regarding the award design, Rachel explained: ‘I work very intuitively, so there were no plans or sketches.
‘It was a similar process to how I make paintings, which are always in layers. Working from the ground up, I covered up to the chest in different colors and then started to focus on developing certain patterns, textures and color combinations. From there I was able to figure out where I wanted certain areas of density or space and things started to fall into place.
‘I would say there is a very strong connection between the way I make paintings and the way I approached creating this prize.

‘They are different because of the format, but the steps I took made it very inspiring to translate one way of working into another.
‘I feel like it’s my voice in the form of a trophy, it’s colorful and chaotic, and this was very important because all the other trophies were so distinctive, and you immediately know who made them.
‘I am very happy that the result is a reflection of my visual language.’
Rachel joins an illustrious list of British artists and creative powerhouses who have been reshaping and makingover the BRIT Awards status for over a decade; from Dame Vivienne Westood, Tracey Emin, Pam Hogg to Sir Phillip Treacy, Damien Hirst and Anish Kapoor. She inherits the honor from 2023 trophy designer Slawn.
