Kylie Minogue accidentally confirms first Australian tour in five years in surprise radio announcement: ‘I wasn’t meant to say that!’

Kylie Minogue has angered her fans by accidentally confirming an upcoming Australian tour in a surprise radio announcement.

The 56-year-old pop star last toured Down Under during her Golden Tour in March 2019 and is now set to perform another series of concerts in the country.

She accidentally confirmed the news during an appearance on The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick on Monday, where she was quizzed about rumours of an Australian tour.

After initial hesitation, Kylie confirmed that she will be returning to the country for the first time in over five years for her Australian tour.

When Brendan Fevola asked her if she was going to tour Australia, Kylie replied uncertainly: “Uh… I want to say yes. Yes. The answer is yes! We’re just finalizing the details.”

“Maybe I wasn’t supposed to say that, but yeah,” she added, while keeping the dates of the upcoming tour under wraps.

The Toxic singer also said it is her “dream” to sell out the iconic 100,000 capacity Melbourne Cricket Ground on her next tour.

“Now that’s a dream. That would be really great one day,” she cheered, as Fev assured her that she could “definitely” sell out the venue.

“Well, if you invite all your friends! You guys are pretty popular,” Kylie joked in response.

Earlier this year, Kylie was rumored to be planning an Australia tour after her headlining performance at Splendour In The Grass was canceled.

The festival was due to take place from July 19-21 in the North Byron Parklands, but organisers confirmed it has been cancelled due to the poor economy and its future is uncertain.

Kylie promised at the time to return to Australia soon for another performance, while fans speculated about her tour plans.

She wrote on social media: “I was so looking forward to being there and that we all had the best time. Oz, I’m looking forward to being home and playing shows for you now more than ever.”

Kylie has had a busy year following the success of her hit Padam Padam and made an emotional appearance on stage at BST Hyde Park on Saturday night.

She reached a milestone in her career at the iconic event by performing at the festival for the first time in nine years, after last performing in 2015.
