Kylie Jenner has blocked Selena Gomez from speaking to Timothee Chalamet at the Golden Globes because the reality star is “strongly protective” of her romance with the Wonka star and fears other women want to break them up, insiders say.
The awkward moment became public knowledge when Only Murders In The Building actress Selena, 31, went viral about her alleged debriefing with friends Taylor Swift and Keleigh Sperry over the interaction – which was caught on camera during Sunday night’s ceremony.
A lip reader confirmed to DailyMail.com that the actress was in fact telling her friends about an awkward interaction with the couple, during which Selena’s request to take a photo was denied.
“Kylie doesn’t feel threatened by her, but she is very protective of her relationship with Timothee,” a source exclusively told DailyMail.com.

The insider also confirmed that Selena simply wanted to congratulate her former co-star, 28, on his nomination for Wonka when she approached the couple.
‘Selena went up to him to simply congratulate him on his nominations and tell him how much she loved his latest film,” the insider explained. “She is genuinely proud of how far he has come.”
Selena has witnessed Timothee’s meteoric rise in recent years after the duo starred together in the 2020 film, A Rainy Day in New York.
While filming the production in 2017, the pair sparked romance rumors when fans went wild over footage of them meeting in New York.
It was eventually revealed that the kiss was for the movie, where they played lovebirds.
The pair hung out publicly during filming and even took part in Instagram Lives – including one in which they encouraged their followers to vote in the 2020 presidential election.
Selena has since tried to put the speculation to rest, claiming that she was in fact gossiping about “two friends who had hooked up.”

On Monday night, Timothee also tried to downplay any rumors of a feud, as he insisted TMZ that Kylie and Selena are ‘cool’ and that his girlfriend had not rejected his former co-star.

An onlooker told DailyMail.com: ‘They sat at their table and stared at each other. They weren’t talking to anyone during the commercial break, they were just kissing… it was like puppy dog love, in high school.”
The pair have been dating since early 2023 and have been stepping up their public appearances together in recent months.
In February, Kylie was forced to clear the air and respond to a TikTok video in which she was accused of mocking Selena’s eyebrows.
The Kylie Cosmetics mogul denied that he was shady towards the actress and even went as far as to shut down any talk of a feud between them.
In a response under a TikTok clip from @devotedly.yours, the mother of two wrote: “This is reaching. there’s never any shade towards Selena and I haven’t seen her eyebrow posts!’

Justin has since married Kylie’s good friend, Hailey Baldwin.
