Kylian Mbappe claims his future at PSG ‘will be resolved one day’ amid Real Madrid interest but insists France remains his priority following hat-trick in historic 14-0 win over Gibraltar

Kylian Mbappe refused to discuss his future at Paris Saint-Germain, insisting it will ultimately ‘be resolved one day’.

The Frenchman has long been linked with a move away from Ligue 1, with Real Madrid topping the list of potential destinations.

Last year, Mbappé signed a new two-year contract with PSG with the option of an extra year until 2025 that only he could activate, but that has hardly quelled rumors that he would leave the Parc des Princes.

But after scoring a hat-trick in the historic 14-0 defeat to Gibraltar in France on Saturday evening, the 24-year-old insisted he did not want to discuss his future.

“It’s something I don’t want to talk about, especially because I did it back in June and it took up a lot of my time with the national team,” he told Telefoot.

Mbappé signed a new two-year contract with PSG last year and has the option to extend for another twelve months until 2025

“I want us to talk more about the national team, rather than me talking about something that will one day be resolved, so there will be time to talk about that.”

The story about Mbappe’s future has been rumbling on for over two years now, with Real refusing to give up on the hunt for the 2018 World Cup winner.

The Spanish giants had knocked back two bids for Mbappe in the summer of 2021 worth around £140 million and he came close to a free transfer after his contract expired last year.

After informing PSG bosses that he would not sign a new contract, Mbappe eventually made a late U-turn and signed a two-year extension.

His future came to the fore again this summer when Mbappe was banned from the PSG squad after telling the club he would not exercise his option to stay in Paris for another 12 months.

That would effectively leave PSG vulnerable to losing the world’s most valuable player on a free transfer next summer.

Mbappe was subsequently left out of the club’s pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea, missing the first match of the season against Lorient, before returning to the services of Luis Enrique.

And according to French outlet RMC SportMbappe was only allowed to return to the squad if he agreed to forego bonuses owed to him.

Mbappe was left out of PSG’s pre-season tour and was ultimately only allowed back into the squad after agreeing to forego around £70 million in bonuses.

The report claims that PSG had originally insisted that the only way he could rejoin Luis Enrique’s first team was if he signed a new contract, something the striker refused to do and a prospect he still rejects.

As a result, they changed tactics and Mbappe has now given up around €80 million in bonuses after reaching an agreement with the club following his reintegration.

Last week the French star insisted he had no problems with Enrique, who criticized him after he scored a hat-trick for PSG in their recent Ligue 1 win over Reims.

Enrique claimed he was ‘not happy’ with Mbappe, who he said ‘needed to do more’ despite scoring all three goals in PSG’s win.

However, Mbappé explained that he was trying to get to know the former Spain coach.

Mbappe has also been forced to deny rumors of a rift between him and coach Luis Enrique

“You should ask him about the timing [of his criticism]. “I took it well, he is a great coach and has a lot to teach me,” he said.

‘From day one I told him he wouldn’t have any problems with me.

‘I have always worked well with the coaches I have had, such as Didier Deschamps, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel and so on.

“These are coaches who have spoken ‘badly’ to me, so to speak, but that didn’t stop me from playing well and having a good relationship with them.”
