Kyle Walker hits back at fan criticism after he was accused of ‘failing to turn up’ for Man City’s draw with Brentford – as club captain tries to secure transfer to Milan

Kyle Walker has lashed out at suggestions he ‘didn’t turn up’ for Manchester City’s match against Brentford on Tuesday night amid his ongoing transfer saga.

Mail Sport exclusively revealed that Pep Guardiola left Walker at home ahead of the 2-2 draw after the defender asked to leave the club.

Both Milan clubs are vying for his services and Mail Sport understands that any loan deal could be converted into a permanent two-year deal upon conclusion.

Walker was also left out of City’s 8-0 FA Cup defeat to Salford this weekend, with Guardiola later revealing he had asked to ‘explore the possibility’ of playing abroad.

After the Brentford match, an account on X wrote: ‘Kyle Walker’s behavior is completely unacceptable. As a club captain it is a shame not to show up for matches.

“If you want to leave, do it with respect; this is not the way. Your lack of effort has been a major factor in this disappointing campaign.’

But Walker, who has been at City for seven and a half years, hit back: ‘Don’t show up?

‘I can’t be at Brentford and training at the same time. You may need to check your sources.”
