Kyle Sandilands surprises struggling family with generous donation after their father lost his job

Radio star Kyle Sandilands showed his softer side on Wednesday by reaching into his own pocket to help a struggling Sydney family.

The charity event took place when Kyle and co-star Jackie O Henderson played their daily $10,000 pop quiz, where listeners get $100 for every question they answer correctly or $10,000 for making a clean appearance.

A 23-year-old woman named Rhiannon called in to play and revealed that she was going to use the $10,000 to buy her struggling parents a new car.

An emotional Rhiannon revealed her father had just lost his job while building a new house.

“Their car is on its way,” she said through tears.

“Dad doesn’t have a job at the moment and mom doesn’t work much, so we’re struggling. We are building a new house. So I just want to do something nice and help them out.”

Unfortunately, Rhiannon was left disappointed as she only answered two questions correctly and walked away with only $200.

However, after revealing that he can’t stand hearing women cry, Kyle went rogue and quit the show in violation of the competition’s rules.

He offered to take some of the stress off the struggling family by offering to personally buy them a car.

Kyle’s magnanimous act came after Jackie suggested playing double or nothing to give Rhiannon another chance to win the big prize.

‘Turn off the music. Forget double or nothing,” Kyle announced.

‘If you answer the following question correctly, I will personally buy a car for your parents. It’s not a 458 Ferrari or anything like that. It’s just a car. I will buy it for them personally.”

Jackie then asked Rhiannon the question, “Mickey Mouse, Goofy and Donald Duck are characters created by which cartoon company?”

Rhiannon correctly replied, “Disney,” and was truly delighted when Kyle announced, “I’m buying your dad a car.”

Overcome with emotion, Rhiannon then put her dad Craig on the phone, who was equally impressed by Kyle’s kind gesture.

‘I’m going to buy you a car. Just to ease the pain of the things that are going on,” Kyle announced.

Craig struggled to keep emotions in check and was grateful for Kyle’s generosity, while adding that there were people who were worse off and more deserving.

“No, you don’t have to do that,” Craig said.

‘There are many more people who are having a harder time than us.’

“I love people like you,” Jackie chimed in, before Craig fought back tears and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the radio hosts.

“That’s so beautiful, there are beautiful people in this world,” she added.
