Kyle Sandilands says Peter Helliar and Lisa Wilkinson were FIRED from The Project

The Project’s Lisa Wilkinson and Peter Helliar shocked viewers this week when they both announced their departures from the struggling current affairs show.

The pair both stated they ran off on their own terms to pursue other opportunities, but radio host Kyle Sandilands believes they may have been fired.

He shares his theory in the Wednesday edition of The Kyle and Jackie O Showthe shock jock claimed they were probably fired by Channel 10 because of The Project’s poor ratings.

Kyle Sandilands claims Peter Helliar and Lisa Wilkinson were fired from The Project instead of resigning

“Who are they fooling into thinking they all decided to leave at the same time? This is a mass fire!’ Kyle said.

“This is Channel 10 saying, ‘You can leave and say you’ve resigned or you can be fired.’ And everyone chooses to resign. That’s what happens,” he continued.

‘They’re no good! They don’t judge. Nobody watches it,” he added.

“The best they can do is fire everyone and start over with real people people care about.”

While Kyle believes Peter and Lisa may have been fired, he clarified that Carrie Bickmore, who quit the show in October, likely walked out on her own terms.

“Lisa, fired, no one cares, no one is watching,” he said. “Peter, fired, no one cares, no one is watching.

“I do believe they would have wanted to keep Carrie. Is that her name? Whatever, the Carrie-Ann or whatever her name is. I just think she’s wearing too much. She does that radio show that apparently no one listens to either.’

Kyle also said The Project forced “left-wing agenda bulls**t” into viewers no one wants to see.

He then blamed The Project’s poor ratings on Channel 10’s entertainment shows such as The Bachelor and The Real Love Boat bombing for not having a strong introduction.

“They all fail and it’s The Project’s fault, so a 10-year-old has realized, ‘we have to wipe these losers off the television.'”

Helliar, 47, announced on Tuesday that he was leaving The Project, explaining that he decided to quit following the departure of his co-host Carrie Bickmore.

“Carrie, you said the other day that you’re glad you’re leaving The Project now that you still love it and I still love the show. Really,’ he explained.

‘The project means a lot to me. It has done great things for me. I interviewed Luke Skywalker once… and I look forward to seeing what the show will be like in the future.”

It comes after Wilkinson announced she was stepping down immediately.

The embattled TV presenter, 62, made the shocking confession at the end of Sunday night’s episode, leaving viewers stunned.

“I’ve decided it’s time to re-prioritize a few things in my life,” the TV veteran began alongside The Bachelor co-hosts Hamish Macdonald and Laura Byrne.

“And after nearly 15 years of early breakfast TV, and now another five years here at The Project desk, I’m looking at how I want the next few years to play out both professionally and personally.”
