Kyle Sandilands claims he was snubbed by the Matildas after berating superstar striker Sam Kerr for ‘never smiling’

Kyle Sandilands stepped up his feud with Matilda’s star striker Sam Kerr on Monday, sensationally claiming that the athlete had disapproved of him.

The radio star, 52, was discussing the Women’s World Cup on The Kyle and Jackie O Show when a producer told Kyle that the Matildas had sent Jackie O a free sweater.

Sandilands asked if they had sent him one too and was flatly told no.

‘Where’s my sweater? What, because I berated Sam at the airport for not smiling, I get nothing?’ an irate Kyle asked.

“Yes, this one belongs to Sam himself,” replied producer Pedro Vitola.

While Kyle may have been disappointed, Jackie O was over the moon when she was awarded the yellow jersey and later posted a video to Instagram of her playing soccer outside the KIIS FM studio.

It comes after Kyle accused Matildas superstar Sam Kerr of ‘not smiling enough’ following her return to Sydney ahead of Australia’s World Cup match against Denmark.

Kerr, 29, and her teammates landed at Sydney Airport ahead of the must-win game last Sunday and were greeted at the gate by a small crowd of cheering young fans.

Footage has surfaced of Kerr briefly stopping for photos and autographs before heading to Matildas’ official bus outside.

On The Kyle And Jackie O Show recently, Sandilands claimed that the athlete had not paid enough attention to the young fans.

“If there are three 10-year-old girls at the airport waving a flag and wanting a photo when you arrive, how about just stopping for three people? There aren’t 300 there,” Sandilands noted.

The shock jock then took a dig at Kerr for supposedly coming across as too grumpy.

And put a smile on your face every now and then. Little girls coming to meet you, you wouldn’t die smiling,’ he scoffed.

His comments appear to contradict footage of Kerr’s arrival captured by 9News, which shows the sportswoman smiling and signing autographs for several young fans.

Meanwhile, football fans across Australia are celebrating after the Matildas beat France in the quarter-finals on Saturday to progress to the semi-finals.
