Kyle Sandilands bans Tenacious D from his radio show for life after band member makes a vile comment about Trump during Sydney show
Kyle Sandilands has banned Jack Black’s comedy band Tenacious D from his radio show for life after one of the band members made a tasteless comment about the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.
Just hours after the former president was nearly shot dead in Pennsylvania, Kyle Gass joked about the incident during their show in Sydney, Australia on Sunday.
Black brought out a birthday cake for his bandmate Gass and asked him to make a wish.
Gass, 64, responded: “Don’t miss Trump next time.”
Speaking on Tuesday morning Kyle and Jackie O Australian radio presenter Sandilands responded strongly to the comment and vowed to ban the duo from appearing on his radio show.
“So this guy wishes death on Trump,” he said, calling the comment “surprising.”
“A message to our talent bookers: I will no longer be participating in interviews for Tenacious D.”
Sandilands, 53, added: ‘Someone who wishes someone dead who was nearly murdered, all jokes aside, it’s too much for me.
“Anyone who wishes someone else were dead is just a piece of shit.”

The audience at Tenacious D’s performance reacted to Gass’ comment mostly with cheers and laughter, with only a few disappointed reactions.
Last month, Black, 54, gave a speech at a famed Los Angeles fundraiser for President Joe Biden, where he said “democracy was at stake” in November.
The event, which raised more than $30 million, was also attended by former President Barack Obama, George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Barbra Streisand.
Black has joked in the past that Trump, like his band, thinks they are “the best” in the world, according to Yahoo! News.
He told Conan O’Brien in 2017: “Now, when we do Tenacious D, I always feel a little bit of guilt, because it’s like this evil f***ing warlock stole our magic but took all the irony out of it. And it worked and now he’s destroying the universe.”
Meanwhile, many on social media reacted negatively to Gass’ comments over the weekend, arguing that it was too early to joke about Trump’s attempted assassination.

Conservative Party editor Brandon Morse wrote: ‘And with that, all the love I felt for Jack Black and Tenacious D is gone.’

Ring-wing commentator Charlie Kirk added: ‘These people are even more deranged and mean than we realised. And shame on all the people in the crowd who thought this “joke” was funny.’
Black and his band are currently on the Spicy Meatball Tour, which kicked off in May and is scheduled to end on July 26, 2024.
Following the shooting that left a bystander dead on Saturday, detectives are searching for clues about what motivated Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, to carry out the shocking attack.
The FBI said it was investigating it as a possible act of domestic terrorism, but the lack of a clear ideological motive in the man shot dead by the Secret Service has led to many conspiracy theories.
According to the FBI, Crooks, who had bomb-making materials in the car he drove to the meeting, acted alone.

Investigators found no threatening social media comments or ideological views that could explain why he targeted Trump.
Trump said on social media that the upper part of his right ear was pierced in the shooting.
But advisers said he was “in great spirits” ahead of his arrival Sunday in Milwaukee for the Republican Party convention.
Two bystanders were seriously injured and a former area fire chief, Corey Comperatore, was killed.
Pennsylvania’s governor said Comperatore, 50, died a hero protecting his family.
