Kyle Rittenhouse will face a wrongful death lawsuit brought by the father of the man he fatally shot, judge rules

Kenosha riot killer Kyle Rittenhouse will face a wrongful death lawsuit from the father of one of the men he shot dead, a judge has ruled.

The case was brought by John Huber, the father of rioter Anthony Huber, who was fatally shot by Rittenhouse during the 2020 BLM protests in Wisconsin.

A federal judge on Wednesday dismissed requests by Rittenhouse’s lawyers to dismiss the lawsuit, which also names police personnel and officials as defendants.

The lawsuit, which was originally filed in 2021, claims Rittenhouse, who was just 17 at the time, conspired with police to attack protesters who took to the streets following the August 2020 shooting of Jacob Blake.

John Huber’s lawsuit also alleges that the officers violated his son’s constitutional rights when they allowed the riot to escalate into violence, resulting in his death.

Rittenhouse was cleared of all charges following the 2020 shooting following a murder trial that drew international attention.

He was charged with first degree intentional manslaughter and other charges for killing Huber, as well as Joseph Rosenbaum and wounding Gaige Grosskreutz.

He was found not guilty of all five charges he faced at trial after four days of deliberation.

Lawyers for the 18-year-old managed to convince a jury that their client acted in self-defense when he fatally shot two men during a protest against police brutality in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Following the not guilty verdict, President Biden came under fire after he said he was “angry and concerned” about the outcome.

Facing the wrongful death lawsuit, Rittenhouse’s legal team had filed motions to dismiss, which were rejected by US District Judge Lynn Adelman on Wednesday.

Anthony Huber’s death “could plausibly be considered to have been caused by the actions of the government defendants,” Adelman said.

However, Rittenhouse’s lawyer argued that the approval of Huber’s lawsuit has no validation as to the merits of the case.

“While we respect the judge’s decision, we do not believe there is evidence of a conspiracy and we are certain, as found by a Kenosha jury, Kyle’s actions that night were not unfair and were carried out in self-defense,” he said. Martin.

During the controversial trial, Rittenhouse’s lawyers argued that Anthony Huber had a violent criminal past that included a number of crimes.

The shocking claims said Huber had previously assaulted family members and threatened to “disembowel his brother like a pig.”

Defense attorney Corey Chirafisi tried to combat the idea that Huber was a “hero” during the trial.
