Kyle Rittenhouse reveals he suffers ‘nightmares and PTSD everyday’ after shooting dead two people in self-defense during BLM riot as he releases new book ‘to correct media narrative that I’m a racist’

Kyle Rittenhouse has revealed he suffers from “nightmares and PTSD every day” after shooting and killing two people in self-defense during a riot in 2020.

Rittenhouse, 20, was a teenager when he fatally shot Anthony Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum during Black Lives Matter protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He is now releasing a new book to justify the actions he took.

Rosenbaum, a 36-year-old man struggling with mental health issues, confronted Rittenhouse amid civil unrest in August 2020 — two days after police shot Black man Jacob Blake in the back as he tried to get into a car with his children steps.

During the riots, Rosenbaum aggressively chased Rittenhouse, throwing objects at him and eventually trying to get his gun, according to eyewitness accounts, before a 17-year-old Rittenhouse shot and killed him.

Rittenhouse said, “I have nightmares every night of being attacked and ambushed and them trying to steal my gun and pointing guns in my face. It’s not easy to do’

After being acquitted of all charges, Rittenhouse became a poster boy for Second Amendment rights advocates and right-wing political commentators.

Piers Morgan asked Rittenhouse: “You killed two people and injured a third, what do you think about that?”

Rittenhouse snapped back, “Well, Piers, they attacked me. They left me no choice.

‘I have nightmares every night of being attacked and ambushed, trying to steal my gun and pointing guns in my face. It’s not easy to do.

“But I did what I had to do to stay alive and if I didn’t I would be dead.”

Morgan further asked, “I’m just curious on a human level, you know, you’re very young even now. You killed two people and injured a third. I just wonder what that feels like?’

Rittenhouse replied to the journalist, “I don’t think this is the right question to ask what it feels like. It’s not easy to do, it’s something I live with every day, it’s nightmares I have.

“It’s something I’m dealing with, I’m dealing with the PTSD and the trauma of having to do that.”

The journalist then said that his answers were “more about him” than about how he feels about the fact that he took the lives of two people.

But Rittenhouse responded, “And like I just said, it’s something I deal with every day. I’m dealing with the PTSD, the trauma and the nightmares. It’s not easy to deal with.’

Despite being acquitted of murder and attempted murder in 2021, 20-year-old Rittenhouse was sued by the estate of one of the men he killed during the chaos in Kenosha.

The estate of Joseph Rosenbaum has filed a lawsuit against Rittenhouse, as well as a number of law enforcement officers and staff.

These claims, which include a total of 13 allegations, including negligence and wrongful death, seek “compensatory and punitive damages” for Rosenbaum’s family, according to Texas Scorecard.

“I stood by my position and I will not back down. I did what was necessary to protect myself, and it is clear that the truth prevailed,” said Rittenhouse, who has become a symbol for defenders of the Second Amendment.

‘Every step forward is an uphill battle. I face unwarranted scrutiny and threats because of the false narratives spread by these lawsuits. No one should ever have to continually prove their innocence in a clear case of self-defense.”

The lawsuit claims, “Joseph Rosenbaum owes his unfortunate death to the actions of Defendant Rittenhouse,” while seeking compensatory damages.

Attorneys for the Rosenbaum estate say police did not enforce a curfew or make any efforts to prevent armed individuals from becoming involved in the protests.

“The law enforcement defendants replaced these armed individuals, conspired with them, and sanctioned their actions by allowing them to patrol the streets armed with deadly weapons to ensure justice was served as they saw fit,” the lawsuit alleges.

“As a result, Defendant Rittenhouse fired his assault rifle indiscriminately multiple times at civilians on the street. He shot and killed two men, seriously wounded a third and narrowly missed a fourth.

‘They didn’t disarm him. They did not restrict his freedom of movement in any way. They didn’t question him. They didn’t stop him from shooting individuals after he started. They did not arrest, detain or question him even after he killed two people.”

In addition to Rosenbaum, Rittenhouse shot at two more attackers.

One of them, Anthony Huber, was killed, while Gaige Grosskreutz suffered injuries.

Grosskreutz, who testified that he pointed a gun at Rittenhouse and was subsequently shot during the 2020 riots, also decided to sue Rittenhouse in February of this year for “damages for emotional distress, humiliation, loss of enjoyment of life and other pain and suffering ‘. on all claims’.

Grosskreutz “must live with the physical and emotional wounds inflicted by Defendant Rittenhouse and the Defendants who replaced and enabled him,” the lawsuit said.

Rittenhouse told Fox News Digital in response to Grosskreutz’s lawsuit, “I think it was a shock why he filed a lawsuit, because he admitted that he pointed a gun in my face and that he chased me.”

He said it would come with a hefty price tag, but said he was ready to prove his innocence “again.”
