Kyle Richards reveals she and estranged husband Mauricio Umansky can date other people: ‘We are free to do what we want’
Kyle Richards has shed more light on the state of her relationship with Mauricio Umansky as they deal with their divorce after 27 years of marriage.
In an interview with ETOnlineRichards, 55, said both she and Mauricio, 53, are “free to do whatever we want” – a directive that means they can both date other people.
The couple separated last summer but have yet to file for divorce.
Speaking about her decision to finally call it quits and what their marriage was currently like, she explained: ‘There was a turning point where I said, “Okay, I think I have to call it quits now.” And we are free to do whatever we want.
“So we kind of came to that decision and we decided to stay in the same house and we’ve been able to manage that so far, but did we say, ‘Yes, we can do whatever we all want to do?’ Yes we have.’

Both Kyle and Mauricio have been romantically linked to other people since the split, but Richards has long insisted that the woman she has been seen with – country singer Morgan Wade – is just a friend.
Mauricio has also sparked dating rumors with several women, including his DWTS partner Emma Slater. Both have said they are not dating.
Speaking of Morgan, Kyle said: “She plays a very important role in my life, as do a lot of my friends.”
She admitted that the spotlight briefly affected their friendship: “There was a while where it changed our friendship because this isn’t something that Morgan had ever been exposed to, this kind of scrutiny and being under a microscope.”
“It’s just too much for her, so I felt bad about that because as a friend you’re like, oh my god. I feel responsible for this to affect you this way because this is not something she wants in her life at all,” she added.
Despite their perceived differences, Kyle said they have more in common than meets the eye, including a connection to an important cause.
Kyle has produced a documentary about Morgan’s decision to undergo a double mastectomy to reduce her risk of developing breast cancer after she tested positive for the BRCA gene. She finally underwent the surgery in November.
“If you look at Morgan and I from the outside, we look like you know we couldn’t be more different, but we are very similar, our personalities and our bond are more important than common interests and all that,” she said of Morgan.
“When she found out she carried this gene, and you know, I lost my mom to breast cancer, we started talking about that more and I really thought, I really want to follow a story like this, of someone who is this. age, experiencing something like that while on the road, living on a bus with her bandmates and a lot about the personal things they would see in the documentary.”

Things will likely remain open-ended between Kyle and Mauricio once the season ends, but the RHOBH acknowledges that she has “definitely seen growth” in her husband as the current season begins.
“Being in therapy together and apart has also been very important for both of us,” she added.
Richards and Umansky have been married for 27 years and share three daughters together.
They are parents to Alexia, 27, Sophia, 24, and Portia, 16.

Richards also shares daughter Farrah Aldjufrie, 35, with her first husband Guraish Aldjufrie.
Rumors of a broken friendship began in recent weeks after fans noticed that Wade had deleted all photos with Richards on her Instagram.
Morgan later shut down speculation about the rift as Kyle opened up Page six that she has deleted the majority of her posts in preparation for an upcoming music drop.
“It’s very common for artists to do that,” Richards said. “That didn’t mean anything.”
