Kyle Chalmers loved up in Paris as Aussie swimming star puts Commonwealth Games love triangle behind him
Australian swimming champion Kyle Chalmers has a secret weapon at his side at the Paris Olympics: his new fiancée Ingeborg Løyning.
The Australian world swimming champion recently endured an emotional rollercoaster at the Commonwealth Games as claims emerged of a ‘love triangle’ between him and new couple Emma McKeon and Cody Simpson.
This ordeal made Chalmers seriously consider quitting his beloved sport, but he returned to Paris with a vengeance, together with his Norwegian swimmer and fiancée Løyning.
Although the swimmers were unable to attend the opening ceremony along the Seine River in Paris, [AEST]He shared photos from inside the Australian athlete’s village, including one where he looks completely smitten with Løyning.
“My Norwegian princess,” he captioned the photo with a heart emoji.

Friends and fans turned out in droves to congratulate the engaged couple.
‘AHHHHHH! So happy for you both! Love you guys! Can’t wait to celebrate with you soon!’ cheered one fan.
“King and Queen,” wrote AFL star Clayton Oliver.
Olympic legend Grant Hackett kept it simple and added a ‘Congratulations’.
“I’d say simp, but this is amazing. Congrats man,” added fellow swimmer Sam Short alongside two red love heart emojis.
“Congratulations brother,” athlete Stewart McSweyn responded.
Kyle was first linked to Ingeborg in June 2023.
In November of that same year, they almost confirmed their romance after they both posted a photo collage on Instagram with a very cozy image.

The couple’s good news comes after Chalmers revealed he nearly quit swimming due to the infamous love triangle that hit the Australian team in 2022.
Chalmers came into the media spotlight for his involvement in a love triangle with his ex-girlfriend Emma McKeon and fellow swimmer Cody Simpson.
Chalmers and McKeon briefly dated in 2021.
McKeon and Simpson made their relationship official on Instagram in July 2022, three months after they began secretly dating.
Chalmers’ somersault at the world championships – which saw him do a 180-degree turn due to his decision to skip Budapest, denying Simpson a place on the team – led to accusations that his decision was not based solely on the swim.
The story didn’t go away during the Commonwealth Games, where all three swimmers represented Australia in Birmingham. Chalmers says he spent the hours leading up to his 100m freestyle crying in his hotel room.
“It’s a sport I love,” he told A Current Affair. “But I was in a very, very dark period.

‘Thinking about that, I asked myself, “Why am I even doing this? Why?”
‘Last year in particular, I think the lowest point, probably was just at the Commonwealth Games. Just in my room, getting all ready for the final, I was crying in my room.
‘We are in a university, so quite an old building. “What am I, what am I here for?”‘
Chalmers had previously revealed that in the midst of his troubles he had written a statement saying he wanted to retire and instead play local football in Australia.

“It was very, very stressful,” Chalmers told the Soda Room podcast. “I wanted to say, I’m done now – I’m going to stay in Port Lincoln and play country footy.”
He added that any suggestion he would keep Simpson out of the team for Budapest was “complete nonsense”, but it was not until the Commonwealth Games that he hit rock bottom.
“We’ve just broken the Commonwealth record and won gold … and they’ve just started,” he says. “Not a single question about swimming … It was all complete nonsense, this so-called feud. There was no feud at all.”
Chalmers will compete in the men’s 100m freestyle at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, having previously won gold in this event at Rio 2016.
Despite a shoulder injury, he won silver at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, narrowly missing out on gold behind Caeleb Dressel. He now faces strong competition from international swimmers such as Maxime Grousset, David Popovici and Pan Zhanle.
Chalmers is also a contributor to the Australian relay teams and holds world records in the 4x100m freestyle, the men’s 100m short course freestyle and the men’s 4x100m short course medley relay.
