Kurtley Beale has been granted bail after he was charged with an alleged sexual assault.

The Wallabies rugby union player was supported by his wife Maddie as he took on Parramatta Bail Court in western Sydney on Saturday.

A stone-faced Maddie was seen walking out of court and ignoring the media following the court’s decision to grant her partner bail.

It comes after a 28-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted in the bathrooms of the Beach Road Hotel in Bondi, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, on December 17.

Ms Beale was seen leaving Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday after her rugby union partner was granted bail.

Beale was arrested while driving through the Kingsford suburb on Friday afternoon.

He was taken to Waverley Police Station for questioning and was later charged with two counts of sexually touching another person without consent, inciting another person to sexually touch him without consent and having sexual intercourse without consent.

Rugby Australia said in a statement: “Kurtley Beale has been suspended from all forms of rugby union with immediate effect pending the conclusion of legal proceedings.”

“This step follows Mr. Beale’s arrest and subsequent felony charge, and is in line with Rugby Australia’s Code of Conduct for Professional Players.”

Beale, who has played 95 times for his country, took part in a training camp of 44 Wallabies on the Gold Coast last week.

He recently returned to Australia after spending several years playing in France ahead of the Super Rugby season for the NSW Waratahs.

Beale, from NSW, has spent most of his decade-plus career with the Waratahs, plus a brief stint with the Melbourne Rebels.
