Kurt Cobain’s daughter Frances Bean, 31, pens emotional note on 30th anniversary of his death while sharing rare photos: ‘Wish I could’ve known my dad’

Frances Bean Cobain shared a heartbreaking tribute to her rock star father Kurt Cobain on the 30th anniversary of his death.

The 31-year-old visual artist also posted flashback photos with the Nirvana musician.

Courtney Love’s daughter got philosophical as she discussed the complexities of loss and grief.

The model also addressed “life and death, pain and joy, yin and yang.”

And she lamented that she never spent much time with the music icon. ‘I wish I could have known my father. “I wish I knew the cadence of his voice, how he liked his coffee, or what it felt like to lie in bed after a bedtime story,” she wrote.

Frances was received very warmly by her friends such as Paris Jackson (who also lost her musical father Michael Jackson at a young age) and Demi Moore’s daughter Tallulah Willis, Eva Mendes and skateboarder Tony Hawk.

The message began with “30 years ago my father’s life ended.”

She then said that the second and third pictures were the last time she was with Kurt.

“His mother Wendy would often press my hands to her cheeks and say with a soothing sadness, ‘You have his hands,’” she said.

Frances then sweetly said she hoped she was holding his hands “wherever they are.”

Bean then noted that her ideas about loss had been in a constant state of metamorphosis over the past thirty years.

“The greatest lesson I have learned from grieving for almost as long as I have been conscious is that it serves a purpose,” she wrote.

“The duality of life and death, pain and joy, yin and yang must coexist, otherwise none of this would have any meaning,” the writer said.

‘It is the transience of human existence that throws us into the depths of our most authentic lives.’

Frances then admitted that there is no greater motivation to “lean into loving consciousness” than knowing that “everything ends.”

“I always wondered if he caught tadpoles with me during the muggy Washington summers, or if he smelled of Camel Lights and strawberry nesquik (his favorites, I’m told).”

But it helped her understand that life is precious.

“He gave me a lesson in death that can only come from the JUST experience of losing someone,” she said.

“It is the gift of knowing for sure that as we love ourselves and those around us with compassion, openness and grace, the more meaningful our time here inherently becomes.”

She then informed followers that Kurt wrote her a letter before she was born.

‘The last line is: “Wherever you go or wherever I go, I will always be with you.” He has kept this promise because he is present in so many ways.”

Bean added, “Whether it’s through hearing a song or through the hands we share, in those moments I spend some time with my dad and he feels transcendent. ‘

And she lamented that she never spent much time with the music icon. 'I wish I could have known my father. “I wish I knew the cadence of his voice, how he enjoyed his coffee, or what it felt like to lie in bed after a bedtime story,” she wrote.

She is Kurt and Courtney’s only child.

Frances’ father, Kurt, struggled with substance abuse and mental health issues his entire life. He died by suicide at his home in Seattle at the age of 27 in April 1994. Frances was just under two years old at the time.

Her mother, Courtney, was married to Kurt from 1992 until his death. Frances inherited 37 percent of her late father’s estate in December 2009.

In 2019, she revealed that she feels “guilty” about inheriting the money, which reportedly amounts to more than $95,000 a month, because she “didn’t earn it.” People reported.

“It’s almost like this big, gigantic loan that I’ll never get rid of,” she explained during an episode of the RuPaul: What’s the tee? podcast.

“I have an almost strange relationship with it or guilt because it feels like money from someone I’ve never met, let alone earned myself.”

Nirvana broke out of the underground and entered the mainstream music scene in 1991 with the release of their seminal album Nevermind, which features their powerful first single Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Over the next three years, the Seattle rockers became the biggest bands in the world, selling more than 75 million records worldwide.

Ultimately, Nirvana was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in their first year of eligibility in 2014.
