EXCLUSIVE: KSI’s knockout win over Joe Fournier is IN DANGER as authorities plan to review fight footage for an illegal elbow by the YouTube star at Wembley Arena

  • The YouTube star triumphed over Fournier when the two met at Wembley Arena
  • However, the victory has been called into question after replays showed an illegal elbow
  • Boxing authorities will review the fight footage to make a decision

KSI’s victory over Joe Fournier has been jeopardized as boxing authorities prepare to review footage of the fight after the YouTube star appeared to land an illegal elbow on his opponent, Mail Sport understands.

‘The Nightmare’ continued his ascent through the crossover boxing scene with a brutal second-round knockout of his 40-year-old counterpart, in front of the packed OVO Arena Wembley.

However, footage from the fight’s final exchanges appeared to show KSI landing an illegal on his opponent, causing him to crash to the canvas and unable to get up.

Mail Sport understands boxing authorities will now review the footage to check for the apparent elbow and then make a decision.

The incident occurred in the second round of the fight shortly after KSI landed a huge overhand right landing that sent Fournier tripping backwards.

‘The Nightmare’ moved in to land a crucial blow, but missed with his right hook and appeared to catch his opponent with a vicious elbow.

KSI started the fight quickly and immediately tagged Fournier with the right hand. Fourier was on the canvas on the opening lap and even though it was just a slip, it was caused by pressure and the warning signs were there.

Fournier then made a better start to the second round, but he was quick on the canvas after a bat with his right hand, which ended the fight in the blink of an eye. However, as mentioned, replays suggested it was not a legal shot.

KSI seemed unaware that he had landed the illegal shot, saying after the fight, “I hit him with a huge shot.” He was dazed and scrambling and trying to hold me for life.’

Fournier, on the other hand, had a different view of things. Speaking to Mail Sport, he said: “I know you’re fighting the promotion, I know the jury may be in their favor, bbut for the ref to leave a clear elbow… it’s been replayed a million times all over the world.

“A clear elbow and then they count me out on the elbow. He should be disqualified. That should be a clear victory for me.’

Jake Paul, the Brit’s longtime rival and fellow influencer turned boxer, immediately expressed his views on the incident on his social media accounts, calling for it to be disqualified.

Paul, who lost to Tommy Fury in February via split decision, wrote: “I respect boxing too much to respect what that was. If that was indeed a real boxing match, it will be ruled a no-contest or disqualification.”

Fury was present at the event and quickly stepped into the ring after KSI’s win, with rumors of a fight between the two starting to heat up.

Earlier in the night, KSI’s younger brother Deji got in on the action, taking on rapper Swarmz in main support.

The Brit put in arguably the best performance of his career, working his way to a unanimous decision victory.

And beforehand, in one of the most highly anticipated periods of the night, Salt Papi – a favorite of Misfits fans – took his toughest test yet against former MMA fighter Anthony Taylor.

The social media star was somewhat exposed, however, as he fell short and lost for the first time as Taylor claimed a much-deserved unanimous decision victory.
