Kristin Cavallari reveals she went on ‘a couple dates’ with ex Jay Cutler after their divorce

Kristin Cavallari revealed that she and ex Jay Cutler tried to rekindle their romance after their divorce.

The Hills star, 37, revealed the pair “went on a few dates” after their 2022 split to “try to see” if they could make it work again during her appearance on the Bunnie XO’s Dumb Blonde podcast.

Cavallari — who also called the former NFL star, 41, a “pathological liar” on the podcast — went on to call their relationship a “trauma bond.”

“Because, man, it’s fucking hard. And then I think, unless you’ve been through this, especially in a toxic marriage, it’s like it has a hold on you… It’s a fucking trauma bond.”

“And until you can really break through that, I would go back.” [to Cutler] a few times and say, “I know it’s not right, but why am I doing it?”

Ultimately, Cavallari said I thought, “I can’t do this” for the 18th millionth time, before finally calling it quits for good. “That’s when I really put in the work,” she added.

Cavallari — who also revealed she’s dating someone new — also said being with Cutler was like “marrying my dad” because she “hadn’t done the work on my relationship with my dad.”

Speaking about her father Dennis Cavallari, she shared, “So the thing is, I was repeating a pattern with my dad. And because I hadn’t done the work on my relationship with my father, that’s what you do, you know? I ended up marrying my father.’

“And so it really forced me to work through my problems, and that’s what I did.”

After their divorce, Cavallari said she “really took the time to get my affairs in order” to avoid “repeating that pattern” in a future relationship.

“It just never went well and we tried, we really did… We really did everything we could.”

“I was fucking sweetheart, I didn’t know any better,” she added, referring to the fact that she was only 23 when she started dating the athlete, who was 27. ‘We were both young. ‘

Elsewhere on the podcast, she branded him a “pathological liar” and said he brought “zero consistency” to their relationship when they were together.

The former reality star shares three children with Jay – sons Camden, 12, and Jaxon, 10, and daughter Saylor, nine – and has been co-parenting with him since they split in April 2020 after seven years of marriage (with their divorce finalized in June 2022).

During her appearance on the podcast, Kristin called their co-parenting relationship “so up and down” and their post-divorce relationship a “bumpy road.”

Kristin even addressed the rumors that he had an affair with her ex-girlfriend Kelly Henderson when they were married, revealing that this may have happened.

The star — who recently discussed her spicy romance with Morgan Wallen — also called their romance “toxic,” something she said earlier in 2022.

She said that while Jay — who was arrested in October for an alleged DUI in Tennessee — never apologized to her for certain things that happened during their marriage, she can still forgive him and have empathy for the former football star.

Kristin spoke about the alleged affair between Jay and Kelly — who was also her Very Cavallari co-star — while he was still married to Kristin.

“I really don’t think anything happened,” she said in the podcast.

However, she seemed to come back wondering if something had happened between them.

‘I really don’t think anything happened. F**k, I don’t know how to be honest with you. Am I sure? No.’

Adding that he “always trashed her,” meaning he talked bad about her, which she said could mean there was something going on between the two.

“Jay trashed her, and I think if a guy trashes a girl, there’s probably something going on,” Kristin explained.

The mother of three said divorce was something she never wanted, coming from divorced parents.

Kristin said it was “the last thing I ever wanted” when discussing divorce.

“That’s bound to come up from time to time… it just sucks that we’re not together as a family.”

Although she has “no regrets,” she did call their relationship “toxic.”

“When you’re dealing with a pathological liar, it’s hard to know what the damn truth is,” the businesswoman said.

Adding, “People who lie or cheat on you, it’s because they’re hurt. That’s about them. That has nothing to do with me,” she noted.

The former couple sat together at their son’s basketball game this year, something she still can’t believe happened.

“We were sitting together at a basketball game earlier this year and I thought, ‘Holy, this is the best thing that ever happened. Jesus Christ, we made it,” she said.

‘We can sit next to each other. And we haven’t sat together since, so I don’t know. What the f**k.”

Cavallari also revealed that she is dating someone new, specifically a retired athlete who is 40 years old and has children.

She said they are “connected on so many different levels” but insists it is a “really new” relationship.

Kristin’s new relationship comes three months after her split from boyfriend Mark Estes, 24, due to their age difference and differences in life experiences.
