Disgraced cop Kristian White’s surprise move after he was found guilty of Tasering Clare Nowland and booted from his job
The disgraced former police officer who was fired after tasering a 95-year-old great-grandmother has launched his own lawsuit.
Kristian White, 34, has filed an application with the Industrial Relations Commission following the dismissal of his Senior Constable from the New South Wales Police.
White was found guilty of manslaughter by a 12-member jury on November 27 for the death of Clare Nowland.
The ex-cop tasered the eldest on May 17, 2023, causing her to fall to the ground and fracture her skull.
Mrs Nowland died a week later at Cooma Hospital. She was using a four-wheel walker and holding a knife at the time of her confrontation with White.
White was suspended with pay for approximately 18 months before being convicted of manslaughter, after which he was suspended without pay.
NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb announced on December 3 that White had been removed from the force.
She stated that she had ‘no confidence in the officer’s fitness to continue as a police officer in accordance with the procedure imposed under section 181D of the Police Act 1990.’
There’s more to come.
