Kristen Bell hilariously explained why telling her daughters Lincoln, nine, and Delta, seven, that trying hallucinogenic mushrooms recently “backfired.”

While appearing on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel, the 42-year-old Veronica Mars star revealed that her little girls used to chatter to their “more conservative” grandmother about the time she experimented with magic mushrooms.

‘I heard my daughter talking to my mother, om [her] grandma, going, ‘I’m actually really glad they’re sharing all these things with me. Anyway, mom really wanted to try magic mushrooms,” the actress recalls.

Despite being open about her and their father’s drug use to their little girls, Bell confessed that she was “worried” that her mother would find out.

Bell also made it clear to viewers that her little ones “fully know” what mushrooms are, as their dad, 46, taught them about his sobriety from alcohol and cocaine.

‘He is very honest about what alcohol does to your body. How it makes you feel weird and harms things, and what drugs do to your body and why most drugs are illegal and all that stuff,” she said.

“I’m lucky enough to be married to an ex-drug addict,” Bell joked. “Not only did he know where to get the mushrooms… he got that really nice, quality, organic, set and set, beautiful mushroom.”

“I have a fundamental rule that I will never lie to them, which is a challenge sometimes,” the mother-of-two told Us Weekly in 2018.

This includes telling their kids that Santa isn’t real.

“They don’t think he exists, but they’re super happy and everything is fine,” Shepard explained.
