Kristen Bell reveals the dirty joke she snuck into Frozen that every parent missed
Kristen Bell revealed she managed to slip a cheeky joke into one of the songs from Disney’s Frozen.
The actress, who portrays Princess Anna in the 2013 film and its 2019 sequel, shared that an ambiguity was lost on many viewers, including most parents, in the tune For the First Time In Forever.
Bell revisited her character’s scene and pointed out the lyrics: “For years I’ve wandered these empty halls / Why do I have a ballroom with no balls?” in a TikTok interview with Vanity fair posted on Wednesday.
With a knowing smile she asked, “How did we get that joke in?” Come on!’ She quickly added, “We kept it under the radar.”
The line almost didn’t make the final cut. According to Bell, the team had to downplay its suggestive nature to ensure it stayed in the song.

“It almost didn’t make it,” she admitted. “But then we said, ‘What are you talking about? That’s not what it means. Don’t be a pervert.'”
Ultimately, the text was retained, adding a subtle, humorous touch to the film, which became a Disney classic. The sequel even became the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
Reflecting on her experience working on the two Frozen films, Bell shared with the outlet that she thoroughly enjoyed bringing Princess Anna to life.
“I’ve always dreamed, like many people, of being involved in a Disney animated film,” she admitted.
“They are so formidable in your life when you’re young and I was obsessed with them,” she continued. “I remember sitting in my living room on my little old boombox and recording myself singing, ‘]The Little Mermaid, just in case I ever need that tape.”
When Bell heard she had been cast as Princess Anna, she was over the moon with excitement.
“It occurred to me that I would do whatever they asked of me,” she continued.
“But what I should courageously strive for is to create a character that I really needed to see when I was 11 years old, namely someone like this character. Luckily they let me do that.”

Bell said she appreciated the collaborative process, noting that while some of her ideas were written into the character, she was also given the creative freedom to bring those quirks to life.
Disney has announced the official release date for Frozen 3, which will hit theaters on November 24, 2027 over the Thanksgiving holiday.
The latest update comes months after Disney’s CEO Bob Iger said in November last year that a fourth installment of the animated franchise is also in the works.
