Bone Thugs-n-Harmony artist Krayzie Bone was hospitalized in Los Angeles on Friday after coughing up blood.

Sources told the outlet AllHipHop that the 50-year-old artist, whose full name is Anthony Henderson, sought medical attention after the distressing incident.

The Cleveland-born rapper is battling sarcoidosis American Lung Association describes as “an inflammatory disease in which the immune system overreacts, causing groups of cells to form clusters of inflamed tissue, called ‘granulomas,’ in one or more organs of the body.”

Doctors gave the Grammy-winning artist a CT scan that revealed a leaking artery in his lungs, sources told the newspaper.

The musical artist was “on a ventilator and sedated” on Sunday night, the outlet said, as many friends and fans took to social media to pray.

One fan commented on how Bone Thugs-n-Harmony helped them through tough times in their lives.

“When I heard the news about Krayzie Bone, I just couldn’t believe it,” the user said. “Please get through this, brother, way too early to go!”

Krayzie Bone quit smoking “a few months ago,” which indicated “something was wrong,” sources told the outlet.

Krayzie Bone is a two-time Grammy winner: 1996 for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group for Tha Crossroads with Bone Thugs-n-Harmony; and in 2007 for best rap performance by a duo or group for Ridin with Chamillionaire.

Krayzie Bone told the outlet last month that he is “blessed” to be involved in hip-hop amid the genre’s 50th anniversary last month.

“To be here at the beginning and see every phase it has gone through, I’m curious to see what the next fifty years will bring us,” he said. ‘Hip-hop is certainly an enduring music genre, but it is still so young.’

Tha Crossroads artist said he wanted to “see hip-hop mature and be kinder and more respectful to the artists who carry this genre.

‘I want to see a balance between artists and companies. It is still young, but it still has a lot of maturing to do. We need to realize and understand how to treat all legends like other music genres.”
