For thousands of teenagers, reading is a compulsory part of a major post-GCSE celebration, with potentially deadly consequences.
Reading Festival and its sister event in Leeds attract 200,000 music fans each year, including thousands of 16 and 17-year-olds who are allowed to attend without adult supervision.
According to the Met Office, drizzle is expected to hit festival-goers early on Saturday morning, but conditions are likely to remain fairly stable in southern and eastern England and Wales.
