Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker were BLOCKED from holding Italian wedding in Catholic church

Fans are getting an exclusive look at Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker’s lavish wedding in the new Hulu special ‘Til Death Do Us Part Kourtney & Travis, which features a rather surprising revelation.

While neither Barker, 47, nor Kardashian, 43, are particularly religious, they both revealed on the special that they wanted to tie the knot in an Italian church.

After arriving in Portofino, Italy, they toured an ancient monastery before meeting their huge wedding party for lunch.

The special — featuring footage from all three weddings interspersed with the couple discussing what happened in their home — revealed their plan was to have a wedding similar to the iconic 1991 Guns ‘n Roses music video November Rain .

However, they soon had to abandon the idea of getting married in a church, though Domenico Dolce of Dolce & Gabbana eventually rebuilt a church for the couple on his lavish estate in Portofino.

Towards the middle of the 72-minute Hulu special, Travis and Kourtney pose for photos with their kids at church, as Kourtney explains that they originally wanted to get married in a church… like the Guns ‘n Roses music video for November Rain.

“Had it been our choice, we would have married in a Catholic church, and that would have made a lot of sense since we were both raised Catholic,” says Travis.

Kourtney corrects him and says she was raised Christian as Travis said he went to Catholic school and Kourtney adds that she went to Catholic high school.

“And then the church didn’t work out, especially because an Italian Catholic Church is so strict, and we really needed specific documents, or we had to take a one-year Catholic course,” Kourtney explains at her home.

They leave the convent while Domenico and his team prepare the villa for the wedding in one day.

Kourtney hugs Reverend Chad Veach, as Kourtney adds that Domenico had “offered to let us use their property and have our wedding there and give us our wedding there.”

She explained that they had to “do helicopter drops to get the piano there, to build everything,” as they showed several of the drops that lasted for days.

They go over the logistics of the wedding ceremony, as Kourtney adds, “One thing I realized working with Domenico is what Domenico says, he just does it.” We presented a lot of things that looked like the church, and they just liked to make a church.”

“We released some details that I think people would be surprised at,” Kourtney said, with Travis adding, “We just wanted to get married. We didn’t really care about the details.’

Kourtney added, “I remember calling Melissa Kolker and scheduling it in 30 minutes and then calling you and talking to you about it, when everything else I do is so planned and so detailed. We created the feel and atmosphere, and really trusted Domenico to execute it. We just wanted it to feel authentic.”

The couple and family go through rehearsal, as Travis added that seeing the wedding build up each day, “the anticipation was greater.”

Kourtney added that Pastor Chad Veach and his wife Julia “are really good friends of ours and the church Travis and I had gone to before we were together was Chad and Julia’s church.” He dropped everything and was there for us, which was perfect.”

Chad walks them through the ceremony, while Travis talks about talking about their marriage to their future children… hinting that they’re not quite giving up on having kids of their own just yet.

“When we talk to our kids about our marriage, we’re not going to say, ‘Oh, we just got married in Los Angeles or we just got married in the desert or San Francisco or Utah, it had to be Portofino.’ We want them to say that,” Travis said, with Kourtney adding, “It all came together so easily.”

While it’s unclear how much the lavish wedding ended up costing, Kourtney revealed that Domenico arranged everything for them, with the wedding taking place on his own property.

The Portofino wedding was the third Kourtney and Travis did in about two months, including a ceremony in early April in Las Vegas and a ceremony at the Santa Barbara courthouse in mid-May, a week before the Portofino ceremony.
