Konnie said she gave the TV maker an ultimatum so neither of them would waste their time with each other.
Speaking on Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s podcast Spinning plates in 2022, Konnie said she always wanted to have children and was worried Charlie didn’t feel the same, so the conversation and dealbreaker came up right away.

“I always wanted to have kids… I always thought I was going to have three kids and then I had two and I was like, ‘Now I’m ready,'” she began.
‘But strangely enough, Charlie didn’t think he ever wanted children. So when we got together, I thought, “If you don’t want kids, then we’re not right for each other.” But it turns out he was.”
“But he’s really good with kids, which you might not think because of his miserable alter ego, but Charlie is a lamb in wolf’s clothing.”
Speaking about tying the knot so quickly after meeting, Konnie said that at that moment her “body clock was ticking.”
“I was in my mid-30s, and when you’re in your mid-30s and your body clock is ticking, you think, ‘I don’t want to be in another relationship without it leading to something,'” she said. .
“So yeah, pretty soon it was my side or the highway, which is good because then you might know if someone is committed.”
She added that despite the pressure she put on Charlie, if he nodded, she would have known he wasn’t good for her.
“I was literally like, ‘There’s no point in being together unless you’re sure you want to have kids, and soon.” And if that was to scare him off, then he wasn’t the right person. .’

She previously spoke about the subject to Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe Podcast for the hell of parenting that one day Charlie changed his mind about having children.
‘He didn’t want children, but he hadn’t met the right person and that all changed. I said, “I’m not really interested unless I’m going to have kids.”
“And so… he clearly saw the gene pool that I had and thought, ‘That wouldn’t be right!’ I don’t know, he just changed his mind.’
The children’s TV presenter revealed the quality that attracted her to Charlie and why she hardly uses the internet.
Konnie said: “I don’t have an Amazon account, an Uber, a Deliveroo… nothing. I’m not even on Facebook, I’m an old-fashioned person.
“That was one thing that attracted me to Charlie. A guy who’s good at phone conversations is pretty rare, and Charlie is really good at making phone calls.
‘I am anti-consumerism. I don’t buy anything. Me and Charlie yin and yang well there.
‘I always say that I am really analogue and Charlie is really digital. My oldest is digital and my youngest is analogue.’
Elaborating on her comparison between digital and analog, she added, “The eldest looks like his dad… he likes to tinker with gadgets. The youngest loves to go out and be social. He’s a classic guy.’
