A knife-wielding man has been tasered and arrested after a woman was found dead in a south-west Sydney home.
Emergency services rushed to a house on Wattle Street in Bankstown at 7pm on Sunday evening after hearing reports of a small fire in a property.
After the fire at the rear of the building was extinguished, firefighters found a woman inside suffering serious head injuries.
Police officers who arrived at the home were then confronted by a man armed with a knife.

They used a taser to subdue the 31-year-old man and take him into custody.
The 67-year-old woman was assessed by paramedics before being pronounced dead.
She has yet to be formally identified. NSW Police have confirmed she was known to the man.
“A crime scene has been established and detectives, led by Strike Force Panhandle, have begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
The man was taken to Bankstown Police Station before being taken to hospital for assessment.
Charges have not yet been filed.
