Kmart Australia shopper reveals DIY taco station using unlikely $15 buy: ‘I need this’

A Kmart shopper revealed a ‘groundbreaking’ dining hack by turning an unlikely purchase into a DIY taco station.

The Queensland woman saw the Bamboo Chopping Board with $15 puffs (was $29, now on sale) and immediately knew she could turn it into a snack bar.

Kmart’s cutting board comes with four drawers and a compartment for sweeping chopped goods into the containers.

The woman simply placed hard taco shells on top and used the trays for carrots, tomatoes and onions, lettuce and meat.

“Not sure who needs to see this, but this purchase ($15) makes an excellent taco station!” she said along with an image of her setup.

Although the plate doesn’t have room for everything, she was able to easily store extra taco toppings, cheese, guacamole, sour cream and taco sauce on another plate.

The woman simply prepares her dinner and takes it to bed to eat while watching television.

She added: ‘I always use mine for normal cooking too, and makes it so manageable.’

Another home cook warned that while the board is useful, it’s important to clean it thoroughly afterwards.

“Just make sure you wash it thoroughly and air dry completely before putting it away,” she said. “It’s going to grow mold under the sign.”

Many were impressed by the Queensland woman’s excellent idea.

‘Oh my God! Prepare what you need and go to bed. I love it,” one person said.

“I really want tacos right now, I need this,” wrote another.

“Great idea for a picnic style dinner, thanks for sharing,” said a third.

A few others shared the different ways they used the cutting board, including one man who turned it into a coffee station.

Many also revealed that you could use it for cheese and crackers or for a charcuterie board.
