Fans are raving about Kmart’s cheap beach cabana, which they say is a “perfect copy” of the popular CoolCabanas version, but it’s only $55.
CoolCabanas shelters have been seen all over Australia this summer to protect bathers from the sun, but many don’t like the $249 price tag.
Kmart’s is a smaller, but cheaper version that comes in three different patterns and has been praised for its durability, portability, and easy setup.

CoolCabanas shelters have been spotted all over Australia this summer to shield beachgoers from the sun, but many aren’t too keen on the $249 price tag
The multi-use product doubles as an umbrella and is made from UVE 95+, which is the highest grade sun protection material.
The six foot shelter folds up into a small portable carry bag and is also windproof as it is held down with sandbags.
‘I can’t fault the Kmart cabin. I had been looking at CoolCabanas but didn’t like the price so I took this one and honestly it’s the best,” said one woman.
“I can even put this on it’s own and the sides are Velcro so it can also turn into a beach umbrella.”

“Just as good as the expensive CoolCabanas around me, at a fraction of the cost,” one man said of the Kmart purchase.
‘I’m lovin ‘it! Easy to install yourself,’ commented one woman.
‘We got the one from Kmart recently and have used it a couple of times and it’s fantastic. We were initially looking at the CoolCabanas but glad we went with the one at Kmart – great value and amazing quality,” wrote another.
‘I’ve had mine since it first came out a couple of years ago. Still going strong and smooth in the wind,” another commented.
Cabins became particularly popular on the Gold Coast and in Perth this summer.
Some beachgoers were not impressed when cabanas began to “take over” popular beaches.
“However, it is very annoying when the whole beach is full of them, they take up so much space,” said one person.
However, most beachgoers are impressed with the increased sun protection this fashion accessory offers.
