Kmart Australia fans are going ‘wild’ for an $8 dupe of a $50 cult favourite product of 2024: ‘I need it’
Kmart fans are rushing into stores to get their hands on an $8 version of a celebrity-made ‘cult’ item that instantly sold out around the world.
Kmart’s iPhone lip gloss case bears a striking resemblance to Hailey Bieber’s $50 Rhodes brand lip case, an “it” fashion accessory.
Jarnah McMillian couldn’t wait to share the new release, which is already flying off stores across the country, with her video attracting more than 865,000 likes.
“Um, okay Kmart…$8,” she captioned the clip, followed by a folded hands emoji.
“Literally, what doesn’t Kmart sell?”
The convenient and ‘chic’ design features a built-in lip gloss compartment that allows you to easily touch up lip color and moisture throughout the day.
The affordable cases are made for the iPhone models 12/12 Pro, 13/14 Pro and the 11 and are available in brown, nude and pastel purple, excluding lip gloss.

Shoppers wasted no time in coveting the new release and said they couldn’t wait to buy it themselves, even congratulating Kmart for ‘working overtime’.
“OMG, now run,” someone said.
“It’s not a wish, it’s a necessity,” another added.
But many were left devastated to discover there were no pink or white cases and the popular new product didn’t fit their phone size or band.
“I’ll cry until I’m 15,” one said.
The value Kmart case ($8) has a built-in lip compartment to lock in shine and comes in a variety of sizes and colors, but won’t fit all iPhone shapes, like the 15 and 15 Pro
“I’m crying into my android,” another added.
One customer recommended that people who couldn’t fit their phone in the cheap lip case should buy the Lanolips add-on, which attaches to any size case.
“It works like a phone grip, you just stick it on,” she said.
This comes after Kmart stunned fans with the release of their summer-inspired beauty line that smells like a celebrity perfume.
The OXX Fragrance Summer Season Summer Solstice Body Mist ($8) is said to be virtually identical to Ariana Grande’s Thank U Next perfume, which retails for up to $70.
The ‘stunning’ scent has notes of cotton candy, vanilla and coconut and is also available in a body cream ($8).
“If you like Ariana Grande’s Thank U Next, this is exactly what it smells like,” one person said.
