A man has been shot dead by police after allegedly running at officers with knives.
Police were called to a home on Bel Air Avenue in Kirwan, Townsville, at about 4:40 p.m. Friday after reports that the man had threatened to self-harm.
The man is said to have been shot “several times” in the chest.

Officers immediately began CPR on the man before the ambulance arrived.
The man, who was involved in a siege with the police on Thursday, died on the spot.
A Queensland Police spokesman said an investigation is underway.
