Legendary Bay Area rapper Earl “E-40” Stevens and the Sacramento Kings released a joint statement saying his lockout during Game 1 of the playoff series with the Golden State Warriors was the result of a “miscommunication.”
“After a series of thoughtful and transparent discussions, both parties agree that there was a miscommunication about the circumstances that arose during the Kings vs. Warriors on Saturday night,” the statement read in part.

Contrary to speculation, Mr Earl ”E-40” Stevens did not rise excessively from his place at court; the outcome was the result of an unfortunate misunderstanding between both parties.
“The Kings will continue to fairly enforce the NBA Fan Code of Conduct to ensure that guests can enjoy games in comfort without disrespectful small talk and other disruptive behavior.

“The organization has long been a leader in advancing social justice and racial equality with a track record of measurable results and community impact. Mr. Stevens has previously attended games at the Golden 1 Center without incident and the Kings look forward to welcoming him back to our arena in the future.”
After the original ejection, E-40 had released a statement saying that he was a victim of racial prejudice following the “humiliating” ejection.
ESPN reported that multiple sources said security believed the E-40 was standing “excessively,” blocking fans’ view and failing to comply with warnings.
E-40 is a prominent Warriors fan and was even part of the delegation that visited the White House earlier this season.
He did not attend Game 2 between the two teams after the incident between him and Kings security, but a Warriors spokesperson said he is expected to be in his seats at the team bench for Game 3 at the Chase center.
