The King of Norway was admitted to hospital yesterday, where he is being treated for an infection.
King Harald, 85, is under the care of doctors at Oslo University Hospital Rikshospitalet, where he is receiving intravenous antibiotic treatment.
The Norwegian royal house reported that the sovereign, who has been dependent on canes for several years, is in stable condition.
It’s not the monarch’s first trip to hospital this year: Crown Prince Haakon’s father underwent leg surgery in January before contracting Covid-19 in March and spent time in hospital in August with another infection.

A second cousin to Queen Elizabeth II, Harald is 77th in line to the British throne.
They are related by great-grandparents, King Edward VII, who reigned from 1901 to 1910, and Queen Alexandra of Denmark.
Edward was the eldest son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, and Queen Alexandra was his wife of 47 years.
Harald’s relationship with Queen Sonja was initially controversial as she was a commoner born to a lowly clothing saleswoman.
They married in 1968 despite some public opposition.
They have two children, with son Haakon, 49, the crown prince and heir apparent.
Their daughter is Märtha Louise of Norway, 51, who stepped down as a senior working royal in November to pursue business ventures with her fiancé, but kept her royal title.
Although the monarch has allowed Princess Märtha Louise, 51, to keep her royal title, her father reiterated that she will not be able to use it in
any future business association with his partner Durek Verrett, 47.
