King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark don sporty hiking ensembles to explore scenic trail in Greenland

The King and Queen of Denmark appeared to be in cheerful mood as they were welcomed into the village of Igaliku during the second week of their trip to Greenland.

They had broad smiles on their faces as they chatted with supporters and were greeted by people carrying Danish and local flags, with beautiful rolling green hills in the background.

Frederik X, 56, and his wife Mary, 52, grinned for photos in matching waterproof outfits as they explored the south of the island.

The Royal Instagram The report reveals that the couple arrived yesterday and spent the night in the region where the ship of Norwegian explorer Erik the Red arrived more than 1,000 years ago.

The couple walked to the village via the Kongevejen, a gravel road that runs from Itilleq to Igaliku. The road is named after Frederick IX, who visited the village in 1952, and is known for its breathtaking views.

Both looked ready for action in hiking gear as they trekked through the countryside.

Mary showed off her sporty style in dark green trousers, paired with a chic cream shirt.

Her chestnut locks were initially styled in loose waves, but later the queen threw her hair into a bun.

She kept her makeup as sophisticated as ever, with a dewy base and glamorous smokey eyes.

Meanwhile, Frederik put on black walking trousers and a light brown hoodie for the outing.

At first, the two wore matching sweaters – Mary’s in dark green and Frederik’s in khaki – but as the weather warmed up, they took them off.

The Danish royals have been traveling through Greenland since last week. Yesterday, Mary visited a sustainable Naasut institution for children in Nuuk, which means “flower” in Greenlandic.

The organization works with the Mary Foundation’s anti-bullying program called ‘Free From Bullying’, which has been rolled out in the Faroe Islands, Estonia, Iceland, Romania, France and Greenland.

Mary looked every inch a queen in a tight white pleated blouse with long sleeves, tucked into black cigarette pants.

She wore her glossy brunette locks loose with a wavy blow-dry and opted for natural makeup with a touch of eyeliner and mascara.

A cute photo shows Mary kneeling on the floor with the children, while one of the boys holds a small purple teddy bear in front of her face.

The children were accompanied by the mother of four, while a daycare teacher held up a colorful book to get their attention.

Mary was depicted sitting on a chair, listening attentively, while smiling at the children in the classroom.

The duo, who became king and queen earlier this year, looked completely happy from the start when they arrived in Greenland last week.

One of the family’s first activities was a visit to a whale microphone lookout point in Qeqertarsuaq.
