Felipe was not accompanied by his wife, Queen Letizia, at the event amid rumours surrounding the couple’s relationship.
The latest shocking claims come from Letizia’s former brother-in-law Jaime Del Burgo, who earlier this year suggested they had an “affair” after her marriage to the king.
The businessman, who had a relationship with the queen when she was a newsreader and was married to her sister Telma from 2012 to 2014, claimed in an interview with the Argentine newspaper Clarín that he is still in touch with the queen.
He said: ‘We have shared many years of our lives together. We are a family. s I have always said that our relationship was not that of lovers. The lover would be him, no matter what. I mean Felipe.’
However, Letizia and Felipe have not publicly commented on the claims.
King Felipe’s eldest daughter and heir to the Spanish throne, Princess Leonor of Spain, was absent when she recently traveled to Portugal for her first official solo visit abroad.

The 18-year-old royal stuck to what she knew and took style inspiration from her mother, Queen Letizia, who often wears bold, vibrant ensembles.
The heir to the throne of Spain wore a ruby-red outfit consisting of a tightly knotted jacket and matching flared trousers
Not to distract from her bold fashion statement, Leonor wore satin, nude heels and a simple white T-shirt under her jacket.
The future Queen appeared to be in high spirits for her first official trip alone, as she was photographed boarding her private jet with a big smile on her face.
She flew to Lisbon and was received by the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, at the Palace of Belém.
He presented her with one of the country’s highest honors after inviting her to visit the country.
According to the official website of the Spanish royal family, the focus of the visit was on environmental protection and ocean conservation.
