There have been a number of encroachments on the palace grounds in recent years. Notably, Jaswant Singh Chail in 2021 who broke into the premises wearing a hood and mask and armed with a crossbow.
The Queen was at the castle at the time of the incident on December 25, along with Prince Charles, Camilla and other close family members, before her tribute to her late husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, was broadcast to the nation.
The then teenager had been on a mission to ‘kill the queen in revenge for the Amritsar massacre of 1919’.
In 2021, another intruder, Daniel Brydges, scaled two fences to gain access to the gardens of Buckingham Palace before being found ‘crouched’ behind a Land Rover near the gate of The Royal Mews.
He managed to avoid jail despite being caught trespassing twice in four days.
