A source close to the royals said: “His Majesty is very clear. The Commonwealth must be at the center of its government.
“He sees it as his utmost duty to fulfill the sincere wish of his late mother, which one of his central roles should be to ensure not only the survival, but also the robustness (of the organization).”
He is said to place great emphasis on the younger couple’s role in securing their survival, with plans to ensure they “enhance their own future and that of the monarchy at large,” with the King takes advantage of Kate’s “undisputed star quality.” .
The top royals will also discuss plans for at least the next year, including trips abroad, major events and major goals.
It promises to be a busy year for the monarch, who will travel to Kenya with his wife in the autumn.
Next year, the royals will travel to Canada and Australia, according to the newspaper.
However, the summit comes at an awkward time after it was revealed that while representatives of Spain’s royal family will be flying on a plane on Sunday to watch the World Cup final in Australia, no British royals plan to attend.
The Prime Minister is also not scheduled to go, which some see as an aversion to the women’s game – especially given the tournament’s location in the Commonwealth country of Australia.

The royal family is thought to be planning to try to secure the Commonwealth after a royal tour of William and Kate in the Caribbean last year drew widespread criticism, including for a photocall in which the pair took pictures with young people who trapped behind a metal fence.
Now sources have described the trip as a “massive wake-up call,” though denying it had been a “complete catastrophe.”
The spring 2022 tour has been plagued by anti-monarchy protesters, as more countries in the Commonwealth grapple with how its bloody colonial history can be accepted by its people.
The pair released a statement after the tour saying, “Overseas tours are an opportunity to reflect. You learn so much. What goes on in the heads of prime ministers. The hopes and aspirations of schoolchildren. The daily challenges families and communities face.
“I know this tour has sharpened questions about the past and future.
“In Belize, Jamaica and the Bahamas, that future is for the people to decide. But we have thoroughly enjoyed spending time with communities in all three countries, learning about the issues that matter most to them.
“Catherine and I are committed to service. For us, that’s not telling people what to do.
“It’s about serving and supporting them in the way they see fit, using the platform we’re fortunate to have.
“That’s why tours like this one reaffirm our desire to serve the people of the Commonwealth and listen to communities around the world.
“Who the Commonwealth chooses to run its family in the future is not what I’m thinking about.
“What matters to us is the potential the Commonwealth family has to create a better future for the people who make it up, and our commitment to serve and support the best we can.”
