King Charles is keen to saddle up for Trooping The Colour as he returns to public duties this week

The king wants to get back on his horse after his cancer diagnosis and plans to appear at Trooping the Color on his favorite steed.

Charles will return to public duties this week with the blessing of his doctors, visiting a cancer treatment clinic with Queen Camilla on Tuesday.

The king, 75, is still undergoing treatment for the disease, but his medical team is reportedly “pleased with the progress made so far.”

Buckingham Palace announced plans Friday for his first public appearance in four months, which will be especially poignant given his battle with cancer and that of his daughter-in-law, the Princess of Wales, who is undergoing preventive chemotherapy for an undisclosed form of cancer. .

It has now been reported that the monarch – who he rode to church on Sunday – is determined to saddle his horse Noble for Trooping the Color in June. It is said that he wants to be seen as a ‘leader from the front’.

The sight would be a huge boost for the nation following Charles’ shock diagnosis.

His appearance on horseback is not guaranteed as doctors still urge caution.

Last year, Noble, a black mare who was a gift from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, was a bit frisky during the procession from Buckingham Palace onto the Mall.

Sources told the Mail that all options are still on the table and a final decision will only be made in the near future given the nature of His Majesty’s condition.

It will depend on medical advice, as well as things like the weather on the day.

An insider told The Sun on Sunday: ‘It is a sign of the King’s desire to return to work and follow the late Queen’s mantra that a monarch must be seen.

β€œHe’s raring to go. He does not have to appear on horseback at Trooping the Color because his mother abdicated at 60, but he believes that if this can be achieved – and with the agreement of the royal doctors – he wants it to happen.”

Meanwhile, the Prince and Princess of Wales are celebrating their 13th wedding anniversary today.

Kate, 42, married William in Westminster Abbey in 2011 after meeting at the University of St Andrews in Scotland.
