King Charles advertises a £40,000-a-year garden manager at Buckingham Palace.

The monarch, who is known for talking to his plants, is looking for someone “passionate about plants” to work 39 hours a week in the palace.

The advertisement on the royal website reads: ‘As a Gardens Manager you will be responsible for the maintenance and presentation of the Buckingham Palace Gardens to an exceptional standard.

“You’ll be proud to see thousands of people enjoying it at garden parties.”

It describes the role as caring for “the gardens that thousands will admire,” while working for the “world-renowned institution.”

The monarch, who is known for talking to his plants, is looking for someone “passionate about plants” to work 39 hours a week in the palace.

The role, with a salary of up to £40,000, will include lawn care and tending shrubs, herbaceous and rose borders.

Applicants have also been told they will “play an important role in shaping the future” of the royal gardens.

“With a dedication to horticulture, you will focus on delivering our projects to preserve and enhance the rich biodiversity of our gardens,” the ad reads.

“If you are as passionate about plants as you are about people, this role will inspire you to perform.”

Meanwhile, a search is underway for a £38,000-a-year garden and nursery manager with a ‘passion for plants and people’ at Windsor Castle.

As a Gardens Manager you will be responsible for the maintenance and presentation of the gardens and grounds of Windsor Castle and the management of an operational nursery.

The job includes caring for the Moat Garden and a historic collection of both indoor and outdoor plants and commercial crops for production at the Windsor Farm Shop.

“With a commitment to horticulture, you will be focused on delivering our Garden Conservation Plans and leading new, specialist projects to preserve and enhance the rich biodiversity of our gardens,” the advertisement concludes.

Both jobs have an application deadline of November 3.
