King Charles has secretly gifted the late Queen’s dresser Angela Kelly a new home

The King has secretly gifted the late Queen’s dresser, Angela Kelly, a new home to fulfill a promise from his mother, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

Ms Kelly, 65, was promised lifelong housing by the Queen. But within months of Her Majesty’s death, the dressmaker was asked to vacate her cottage on the Windsor estate, as first revealed in the MoS.

Last week, Ms Kelly, a Liverpool dockworker’s daughter, posted on social media that she would be moving out of her Berkshire home.

Now the MoS has learned that the King has given her shelter for the rest of her life. A source close to the palace said Ms Kelly had been given a new home, believed to be near Guiseley in Yorkshire. It is thought that the King bought the property, which will revert to the Crown on her death.

While Mrs. Kelly was adored by the late Queen, who granted her the right to produce books about her role, Mrs. Kelly caused a stir among the staff and senior Royals. Her quick temper even earned her the nickname AK-47.

A source said: ‘Angela wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, yet the king didn’t want to see her homeless. I have the impression that the king just didn’t want to live next door to her.’

A source close to the palace said: “The story of the king being heartless is all very much misguided. His Majesty has never wanted to see anyone homeless, especially one who has been so loyal.”

The late Queen’s former right-hand man was seen leaving her Windsor home this morning, hours after it was previously reported that she had been ‘cut off’ by the King.

Ms. Kelly looked serious as she drove, sunglasses on her face – and a scarf wrapped around her neck to prepare for the unpredictable weather.

She poignantly posted a photo of her garden, telling friends, “Ready to say goodbye. I am finally moving into my new house that I will finally be able to call My Home.’

In response to a friend, she posted: ‘I’m moving to the Peak District just beyond Sheffield so not too far from family.

‘My work phone is disconnected, but hopefully you have this one… Looking forward to my new adventures [with smiling emoji]’.

Her Instagram stories this morning suggest she was defiant to the end. She posted, “I’m too old to worry about who likes me and who doesn’t!” I have more important things to do!

‘If you love me, I love you! If you support me, I support you! If you hate me – I don’t care!’

She followed that up with a gif of a child singing, “I can’t be negative today.” Positive vibes, positive vibes!’

Friends of fiery Mrs Kelly, the Liverpool dockworker’s daughter who became the Queen’s closest aide, feel she has been mistreated after such loyal and devoted service and say she has once again fallen victim to the ‘property merry-go-round’ of the king.

Ms Kelly was praised for revamping the Queen’s image with outfits in striking colors and hats to match. As Her Majesty’s health declined, Mrs. Kelly became more of a personal assistant. The monarch had once said to her, “We could be sisters.”

On the day of Queen Elizabeth’s funeral last year, Ms Kelly described it as ‘a very sad day for me today’. I said goodbye to my best friend.’

Many in royal circles expected her to receive a lifelong shelter after her decades of service to the late monarch.
