King Charles fires Prince Andrew’s ten-man private security team at Windsor mansion in latest attempt to force disgraced royal out of Royal Lodge

King Charles has fired Prince Andrew’s 10-strong security team in his latest bid to force the disgraced duke out of the Royal Lodge, an insider has claimed.

Charles has long been trying to evict his brother from the £30million, 30-bedroom Windsor mansion where Andrew lives with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.

The monarch has been funding Andrews’ armed guards – who cost £3m a year – since they were removed in 2022 amid the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

But now Charles is said to have told the Duke’s private security team that they will no longer be needed from the autumn.

A palace insider said The sun on sunday: ‘Everyone suspects that this means that the Duke will have to leave the Royal Box. After all, what else could be a reason to remove his security?’

They added: ‘It is no secret that the king wants him gone.’

Earlier this year it was revealed that Andrew had turned down the opportunity to move to nearby Frogmore Cottage, which was previously Harry and Meghan’s British home.

When Andrew moved to Royal Lodge in 2003, he signed a 75-year lease with the Crown Estate, paying an initial sum of £1 million.

But the king is reportedly keen to generate commercial income from the mansion as soon as possible, once he can evict the duke.

It was previously reported that the estate was intended for heir to the throne Prince William and his wife Princess Catherine, but the couple said they are very happy at Adelaide Cottage.

Andrew, who remains an outsider to public life due to the fallout from his relationship with paedophile Epstein, has reportedly already spent almost £7million on extensive renovations and repairs to the property.

He has refused all of his brother’s requests to move to the smaller Frogmore Cottage.
