King Charles and Queen Consort attend funeral of Camilla’s brother-in-law of over 50 years

King Charles and the Queen Consort were among the guests who took to the streets of Dorset today to pay their respects to Camilla’s brother-in-law, Simon Elliot.

The businessman was married to the royal’s younger sister Annabel for more than 50 years and passed away at the age of 82 earlier this month.

The late businessman’s grieving friends and family were photographed arriving for the service at Holy Trinity Church in Stourpaine, Dorset this afternoon.

Police blocked all roads to the church during the service to allow Simon’s coffin to be carried through the small town.

After the service, guests were seen heading to the local pub The White Horse Inn.

Although King Charles and Queen Camilla were not pictured arriving for the funeral, they are believed to have attended the service in a show of support for his widow Annabel.

The church at Stourpaine is where the funerals of the Queen Consort’s brother, Mark Shand, and her father, Commander Bruce Shand, had previously been held.

The queen consort was so close to her brother-in-law that she invited him and his sister, Annabel, to join her and Charles on their honeymoon in Scotland.

Leading the mourners were Elliot’s three children, former Conservative Party co-chairman Ben Elliot and his sisters, Alice and Catherine.

Mourners braved the wet English weather as they made their way to the village church.

The queen consort’s sister, Annabel, married the landowner, whose father was an RAF air chief marshal, in 1972 at the age of 23.

Simon and Annabel, 74, had three children together: former Conservative Party chairman Ben Elliot and his sisters Alice and Catherine.

Camilla invited her interior designer sister and her husband to their Balmoral honeymoon after marrying then-Prince Charles in 2005 and the now King and Queen consort frequently visited the couple in the Dorset village of Stourpaine when they were dating.

And it was at Annabel’s 50th birthday party at the Ritz Hotel when her sister stole the limelight by ‘coming out’ as Charles’ partner, the couple used the occasion to pose for their first public photos together on the steps. of the hotel.

Annabel’s interior design skills have seen her run her business in Dorset for over 30 years, and the King has employed her to redesign several royal homes over the years.
