Preparing for the coronation! King Charles and Queen Camilla are refreshing their social media accounts with a new portrait as invitations are sent out
King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla updated their social media accounts ahead of the coronation.
The profile photos for the royal family’s social media pages were refreshed with the new official portrait of the monarch, 74, and his wife, 75, released this week along with the official coronation invitation.
The portrait of Their Majesties was done last month in Buckingham Palace’s Blue Drawing Room by Hugo Burnand, who will also take their official coronation photos.
Dressed in blue to match her husband, Camilla wears a favorite Fiona Clare dress with a pearl necklace with diamond clasp and pearl earrings.
The image can now be seen on the Royal Family’s Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube accounts ahead of the May 6 coronation at Westminster Abbey.

Updates to the royal family’s social media profiles have happened before, usually changing pages to show more sombre images for Remembrance Day in November for a week, for example.
Meanwhile, the royal family’s social media accounts in September marked the end of the mourning period and a new era following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Accounts of the Royal Family and the Prince and Princess of Wales, who had displayed the Royal Coat of Arms as their profile photos following the late monarch’s passing, were changed to show photos of King Charles with Queen Consort Camilla, and Prince William and Kate .
Following Her Majesty’s passing on September 8, 2022, the nation and the Royal Family entered a period of mourning until her state funeral on Monday, September 19.
While life returned to normal for most people after the funeral, which was attended by around 2,000 people at Westminster Abbey, the royal family maintained its mourning period for another seven days after the late monarch was buried at King George VI Memorial Chapel in Windsor.
The royal family’s Instagram account announced when the official mourning period was coming to an end, signaling a change in the content it will now produce.

The account posted a photo of the late monarch shortly after she ascended the throne at age 25: “The period of royal mourning following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth has now ended.
“The record of the Royal Family will continue to reflect the work of the King, the Queen’s consort and other members of the Royal Family, as well as the life and work of Queen Elizabeth.”
Meanwhile, the Prince and Princess of Wales’s Instagram account changed his profile picture back to one of Kate and William on a trip to Ireland.
The couple was pictured laughing with their arms around each other as they stood on a beautiful cliff overlooking the sea in the background.
