Kimberley Woods won her first Olympic medal with bronze in the kayak at the Vaires-sur-Marne nautical stadium in Paris.
The 28-year-old rugby player qualified for the final in third place in the afternoon’s semi-finals.
She was in the silver medal position behind Australian world champion Jess Fox after posting a time of 98.94, with the two fastest semi-finalists still to go.

Poland’s Klaudia Zwolinska moved up to second, leaving Woods waiting a long time for a potential misstep from Germany’s Ricarda Funk.
And that’s exactly what the reigning Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion did at the bottom of the course.
It was a relief for Woods, who finished last in the K1 final after 56 penalties at her first Games three years ago.
