Kimberley Walsh reveals how losing Sarah Harding changed her outlook on life and admits Girls Aloud ‘leaned on each other’

Kimberley Walsh has revealed that losing Sarah Harding has changed her perspective.

Girls Aloud star Sarah tragically passed away at the age of 39 on September 5, 2021 after battling breast cancer.

Kimberley, 41, explained how the passing of her former bandmate made her realize the need to “be thankful for what you have while you have it.”

The singer also admitted that she and her fellow Girls Aloud members – Cheryl, 39, Nicola Roberts, 37, and Nadine Coyle, 37 – have “leaned on each other” following Sarah’s death.

Elsewhere, the mum-of-three spoke about her career path, revealing she previously auditioned for ITV soap opera Emmerdale but was unsuccessful.

Kimberley talked about how losing Sarah has changed her perspective The sun: “Just be thankful for what you have while you have it,” she replies.

She also said of her relationship with her Girls Aloud bandmates, “Obviously, with everything that’s happened, we’re really as close as we’ve ever been. You just have to lean on each other, don’t you?’

Cheryl and Nadine in particular have been friends for a long time since appearing together in Girls Aloud, which was created in 2002.

But the pair rather caused confusion about their friendship as reports often circulated that they did not get along while in the band.

Nadine previously blamed the rest of the girls for the band splitting – even insisting that there was never any friendship with Cheryl.

Despite being a bridesmaid at Cheryl’s wedding to footballer Ashley Cole in 2006, Nadine claimed they had never been friends.

On Celebrity Juice in 2018, Nadine said, “There was no fighting, there was just no friendship to begin with.”

But later, Nadine backtracked on this claiming that she and Cheryl were and always had been good friends, and most recently went to see her perform in 2:22 A Ghost Story on The West End.

Elsewhere in the interview with the publication, Kimberley revealed that she had previously auditioned for Emmerdale but did not land the part.

Her younger sister Amy plays Tracy Metcalfe in the soap, and her big sister Sally was in Emmerdale from 1997 to 2000 as Lyn Hutchinson.

Kimberley said of the soap makers, “They didn’t ask me [to be in Emmerdale]. I’ve auditioned for them in the past, but they didn’t go for the hat trick.

It would be fun to play a few episodes, but that’s definitely Amy’s thing, and I’m happy to leave it to her. Every soap is just so full on and a lifestyle choice, which I just can’t really do right now.”
