A bill to legalize assisted dying in England and Wales will provide tough safeguards, including long prison terms for coercion and powers for judges to cross-examine patients.
Labor MP Kim Leadbeater said she believed she had proposed “the best possible legislation” and told reluctant MPs that parliament might not get the chance to vote on the issue again for another decade.
